A Bible Commentary For Teaching And Preaching is a set of full-length commentaries written specifically for those who interpret the Bible through teaching and preaching in the church.
An excellent interpretation of one of Paul's greatest works.Best is an Emeritus Professor of Divinity and 'Biblical Criticism at the University of Glasgow. The fact that he is of Scottish blood and add the other wrinkle that the Editor for this book was a James L. Mays, who is Professor Emeritus of Hebrew and Old Testament Interpretation at Union Theological Seminary in Virginia and you have quite a package in this little book. Bob I.
I have found several other volumes in this series very useful but this volume was disappointing. The writer often refers the reader to more academic commentaries for more information. The reader would do well to bypass this commentary in the first place and read N.T. Wright or another current scholar. This was a huge step down from the commentary on 1 Corinthians in this series which I found very useful.
