This book is about the heart of what it means to pray and worship. It's composed of three parts, each having several chapters. The first part is about the realities of intercessory worship, worship which
- enthrones God by providing a place for Him to dwell on earth in His fullness,
- encounters God by providing an opportunity to meet Him through speechless silence,
- enlarges God by providing an atmosphere to increase our knowledge of Him,
- enjoys God by providing a place of access into the delights and pleasures of His presence,
- enlists God by providing mobilization to release His resources into the needs of people,
- excites God by providing a true position from which we can bring Him pleasure
- exalts God by providing a platform to lift Him up over every need, opportunity and nation on earth
The second part deals with 7 reforms which appeared at the Tabernacle of David in history: continuous worship (day and night), skillful worship (musical excellence), creative worship (new songs and sounds), extravagant worship (radical giving, sacrificing), expressive worship (dancing), open worship (like David dancing on the street) and strategic worship (organization).
The third part deals with rivers of God's glory: intimacy, sufficiency, supremacy, discovery, liberty, humility and destiny.
What I really liked about this book is that it has practical ideas how to combine intercession with worship. I also liked the many quotes from other burning people of God, like A.W.Tozer, John Piper, etc. And then there was the part where God spoke to me related to His Tabernacle... I recommend reading this even if you don't feel called to serve as an intercessor or worship leader.
