Such an interesting play. Horribly outdated and not funny - two 19 year olds go to Cape Cod to score and see 'a perfect 10.' Besides the choice vocabulary, there is just general misogynistic talk between the two guys. Which is certainly a turn off but at the same time, it is still relevant to real life obviously. But do audiences want to hear two guys be unlikeable as true as it may be?
The play actually is interesting in the 2nd act where the more 'sensitive' of the two guys scores with the perfect 10 (a 25 year old who has a boyfriend sorta kinda) while the more hotshot aggressive one is left with the 'bitchy' friend. The sensitive 19 year old declares how he is in love and the other two connect but then the whole show just abruptly ends.
There's some good stuff here regarding relationships and views on sex but as a comedy? Nah. It needs a major overhaul for the present.
Two nineteen -year-old horn dogs go to cape cod and discover two slightly more experienced 'women' (23 and 25). The guys put on a front in an effort to get... to know the 'women' better. Features drawing of stage and list of materials needed for production. Swearing.
I loved this play. It was hilarious, and the characters are ones you can absolutely relate to, especially if you belong to the younger generation. Its got 2 guys of 19 year old each, and a 22 and a 25 year old girls. The guys try to pick up these girls, and in the event, it turns out to be the opposite of what you expect to happen, with lots of humor!
A well-written play with four likably unlikable characters. I would have given it four stars if it weren't for the horribly unsatisfying and abrupt ending.
…. yikes. scene with rhonda and ricky on the beach is great tho, gonna bring this to school. playwrights horizons plays are such a hit or miss goddamn.
