Great practical advice on how parents and educators can best support children with ADHD. For me, the two main takeaways from this book were the following:

"Make it a goal to catch your child being good at least four times more frequently than when you respond to misbehavior." (Pg. 110)

Token reward systems work great for kids with ADHD. However, rewards must change frequently as kids with ADHD need novelty to stay motivated. (Pg. 111)

There are also TONS of great resources listed in this book for parents. So, so helpful!

A bit repetitive, but very helpful in providing me with information and resources pertaining to a new diagnosis in our family.

This is a great resource to have on your shelf if you are raising or teaching kids or teens with ADHD. The information is set up in such a way that you can look up your topic of concern in the table of contents and flip right to the relevant information. I love that this is just a book of facts. There are no case studies, no professional opinions, no fluff. You can find plenty of that elsewhere. It is literally a book of lists, all pertaining to ADHD. I also love that each section is largely independent of the others. You can read the whole book, or not, as you like. Relative information is included in every section to which it pertains. And each section has its own bibliography, making it so easy to fact check or do further research.

A good resource for anyone who interacts with people with ADHD. Teachers, parents, friends and relatives. Most of this applies not only to Children and Teens, but to adults as well.
I'm a list kind of person so the format of this book was right up my alley. It is long and extensive and not made for reading from cover to cover. Read a part that applies for that moment to help through rough patches. Or read a part and reflect.

Informative and easy to read, if sometimes a bit repetitive or obvious. For example, if you've had any training in teaching reading comprehension, nearly all of the suggested strategies are considered best practices anyway (text walk, preview vocab, activate schema, turn and talk, frequent stops to summarize gist, etc). Aside from that, there is a lot of helpful information here, handily organized (it is a book of many lists after all!).

TONS of good information (some new but a lot of stuff I have already learned). A lot of it seemed repeated throughout, but would be a great book to reference with specific questions or issues. Easy to find specific information because of the list format. I liked that it had information for parents as well as teachers.

Terrible. Literally bullet points of best practices for teaching in general. Even a beginner would know this stuff. It’s extremely repetitive in many sections and includes some really absurd recommendations that would completely overstimulate and distract a student with ADHD (and probably those without). 1 star for the working memory, memory, cognitive and metacognitive strategies and aids.

This book was one of the best “textbooks” for a graduate class that I’ve read. It is very practical and offers easily implemented strategies, techniques, and adjustments to practice. It also has a lot of information in it for parents of children with ADHD. It is clearly organized and can easily be used as a quick reference. I will be keeping this with me at my desk to use when I plan.

I think this might be the first ADD book I've ever read where I didn't feel worse, more hopeless, at the end. The format didn't make me work for the content, which was great, and it was useful to compare the degree of scaffolding in the suggested interventions to the basically none in the ones I was offered in the 1980s, and which didn't work. It makes more sense now why.

Excellent read! Easy to read format for teachers or families looking to help their child with ADHD. Gives great tips to support them in different environments and for those who present different ADHD symptoms. Great book to hold on to and refer back to as needed

This book is indeed a book of lists. There were a few things in the book that I was not aware of and this has made me even more determined to research more to educate myself about this "disorder".

This truly was a book of lists. The piece I found helpful were the visual prompts in the appendix. The rest was a lot of common sense.

Information is clear and easy to read/follow. I'd love a similar book based on adult ADHD too.
