A little disjointed since it's a supplementary book to what was a big event at the time.
Strangely enough, it's a lot less about the Red Hulk and focuses more on the woman from the future that smooched the Hulk to take his genetic material to make a super-powered young lady to win a war against men (bizarre, but not TOO bizarre), Rick Jones turned into a blue Abomination, and a little bit of the evil workings of the smarty-pants baddies that are trying to take over the world.

This volume is basically one big information dump, filling us in on behind the scenes happenings and things we were never told. Even after reading the prelude, there was still a lot here that was unexplained, but as the story progressed you knew what was happening even if you weren't sure how you got there.

Overall this didn't come across as a direct part of Fall of the Hulks, but it cleared up so many dangling plot lines it was worth the read. And the art was good, much like the entire run of Red Hulk has been.

The main story takes place in Incredible Hulk, and If I would to call the Hulk volume a companion piece, I don't know what this Red Hulk volume is. It doesn't advance any of the plot, it tells us tons of backstory, reveals dangling plot threads, and answers questions you may or may not have asked.
What happened when Red Hulk met Thundra?
What happened between Red Hulk and the Intelligencia?
Did you learn to love the A-Bomb?
Did you put the Bomb on me?
Luckily we have Jeff Parker writing, so it was good.

Decent book, but nothing too special. At times it was enjoyable, and at other times I kind of zoned out. I did enjoy the team-up between MODOK and Leader, but I felt Red Hulk wasn’t in it enough…

The use of a different writer than Greg Pak was obvious here. It was to the point that, in the middle of the book I thought about how this didn’t seem like Pak’s great writing, I checked out the front cover, and sure enough, it was someone else. Red Hulk’s voice did not seem to be written correctly here. I’ve just read 3 Hulk books in a short period of time prior to picking this up, and Red Hulk seems different in this account. The only redeeming thing about the book for me was the fact that I personally was being filled in on history that I wasn’t previously aware of. Other than that, this isn’t a great book…it is just OK. To end on some good notes about the book, the mini-story about Red She-Hulk’s beginnings with the Intelligencia was entertaining, and, as with all the Hulk books I’ve read over the last two days, the art has been very well done.

This volume advances the plot for Fall of the Hulks, but because focus rests on different characters and conflicts every issue, each of them feel oddly separated. I definitely liked the third issue best but the surrounding ones are fairly forgettable, and I even had to flip through the first one again to remember what the story was.

Since this volume mentions so many events that happened in other stories it could have benefited from an index of recommended reading to understand more background along with the checklists of what to read going forward, since even with all the Wikis and internet forums we have these days it can still be hard to figure out the exact comic in which something took place.

I'm officially done with this arc. I've hated the last several volumes and I've given up hope that it will get back on track. It's just so convoluted. The story is difficult to piece together and when I do, I find that I just don't care. Sorry Rulk.
