If you are looking for a plot you can shoot peas through, lots of expensive "product placement", really poor proof reading, bad sex scenes, and one-dimensional characters displaying unparalled bitchiness and expensive handbags at close quarters, you have found your perfect read! And military training for body parts: "her nipples stood to attention". That was a first.
If you were caught on a desert island with this book, it might just be useful for fire-lighting or toilet paper. That's how bad it is.
Here is another exerpt-remember, it doesn't get any deeper than this- "The pink champagne was flowing, the ice sculpture was melting, , the atmosphere fizzed with the chatter and laughter of everybody having a fabulous time at somebody elses enormous expense".
The only reason I finished its over-long 580 pages was because I would have had to find a replacement for it in my reading challenge. Be warned.

I should've known. There were so many signs. First, the title. Second, it was free. Third, the author's bio (the first sentence) "Tasmina Perry left a career in law for the glamorous world of women's magazine journalism." I forced myself to read to page 13. It was painful. I won't even give this one away to a friend- I will give it to the Salvos. All I wanted was light summer reading for the plane!!

I really struggled with this book. It seemed to take forever to read.

The ending left me scatching my head. I just didn't get it.

This was one of the worst books I've ever read. The characters were horrible, the writing terrible and the proofreading was atrocious. Only read it due to being in lockdown and books are scarce lol.

It was an okay read, but it took a long time to get anywhere. At least it came to a reasonable conclusion.

There are four main characters, whose stories intertwine throughout the book - Karen, Erin, Molly and Summer. One of the things I found I most like when reading was that although the story is about these 4 women and how their lives cross, each of them have their own , separate, strong story line. Each of them is well written and believable, which I think is a key feature, particularly in a story with such a glamorous plot as this where readers may not be able to empathise as well. I also really enjoyed the chemistry between the four women and Adam, each of them have a different relationship with him which is good as it mixes it up.

Karen is re-launching herself onto the social scene after the accidental death of her late husband Sebastian. She has her eyes set on Adam from the beginning. Her swimwear business and philanthropic side line allow her to be a glamorous socialite with a powerful influence when it comes to the men, and women, in her life. She has a past though just like everyone else and endeavours to keep it hidden.

Erin is an aspiring author with writers block. She leaves for London to become PA for Adam Gold. She is introduced to the glitz and glamour of being in London's elite crowd and also takes a plunge in the property game.

Molly is a social climber. She had success as a model in her younger years but now her looks are fading and she is looking for a sugar daddy to keep her in Mercedes and Gucci. Molly also has her sights on Adam Gold. The story follows what lengths she will go to get exactly what she wants.

Summer is Molly's young, beautiful daughter. She is striving to have a glittering career and is desperate to be out from under her mother. The story follows how she falls for Adam and how her life takes an unexpected turn, testing both her and her mother.

The blurb contains three powerful words, "power", "lust", and "murder". This very simply sums the book up. The bank balances read in billions, the social climbing and deceit is centred mainly around one man, Adam Gold, and the who doesn't love a bit of murder investigation to spice things up.

The story is written in 3rd person and is written from each characters perspective. It suits the story here to have it from each characters point of view as each of them have such a strong story and input to the overall plot.

I first read Gold Diggers about 4 years ago. I'd seen it in the supermarket and was attracted both by the name and the cover. It was the first book by Tasmina Perry that I'd read and found that it has a bit more substance to it than your average chick lit novel. After reading this book I have read most of Tasmina's other novels. One recurring theme throughout them all is the luxurious destinations, eloquently described in her books. Gold Digger is mainly set in London, something that really appealed to me as I love London; however the characters jet set all over the world to places such as Lake Como and St Barts. I've not been to either of these places but the descriptions of them both make me want to go.

I have read Tasmina Perry's first book and before I give you the low-down I need to explain about the Genre of this book. It is a typical `Bonkbuster' which reminds me of the type of books Jackie Collins writes. This style of book isn't everybody's cup of tea but for those that do like it and were mad fans of Dynasty and the like will absolutely LOVE this type of book. It has everything a good Chick Lit book should have. Lust, Greed and most importantly glamour!

Based in London we meet Adam Gold who owns the hugely successful Midas Corporation. He is the type of man every woman could only dream about. He is successful, handsome, sexy and extremely powerful. What he doesn't realise is he is about to meet the `Gold Diggers'. The `Gold Diggers' come in the form of Karin, Erin, Molly and Summer. Karin is a successful swimwear entrepreneur and the thought of having handsome Adam on her arm is almost too much to bear. She is a woman who is known for getting what she wants and is always the boss. Her biggest rival is Molly who was a huge star in the 80's but her success is now fading. The only thing she is gaining as time goes on is an expensive drug habit and lifestyle that she cannot keep up with. Could Adam be the answer to her prayers? Molly's daughter Summer has never had a great relationship with her mother, due to the fact that Molly sees her as a burden. The tables are turned in Summer's favour when she lands a big contract that promises to make her the next `big thing'. Last but not least we meet Erin. She is the country girl who decides to move to London and ironically ends up working as a PA to the one and only Adam Gold. The story is the contest of a lifetime. Which one of the girls will finally snare the illustrious Adam Gold?

The book was an absolute corker! The writing was fantastic with the author taking up to the exotic locations of Monte Carlo, Lake Como, St Moritz and St Barts. We get to plunge head first into the world of the rich and famous. The thing I also love is that the author doesn't skimp. Tasmina Perry books are always pretty meaty and you get a real feel for all of the characters. This book is absolutely fantastic and I have no negatives about it at all. Just remember, Gold Diggers is like Marmite. You will either love it or hate it.

well...a book named after me deserved to be read :P and i wasn't disappointed! it had everything i wanted...hot rich med men, yachts, monte carlo, sex, lust, greed, guilt, money, jealousy, stalkers and murders! what more could a girl ask for? (a rich hubby of her own...?...it's on my christmas list ha!)

was impressed with the books content thought it would be some lame chick lit you wouldnt have to really engage in but it was better than that! loved how all the stories linked! and great for tips ;) i read it whilst sitting on the balcony of my little ivy house in mallorca...looking out from the bay below and watching the yachts sailing by...wondering if the peoples lives on board were half as interesting as this...i bet they are ;) scandalous! couldn't put it down!

i will definitely be keeping an eye out for her other books! well done tasmina!

If you like reading about spoiled rich people and enjoy being immersed in ridiculous drama, this is for you. Even the characters you think you like at the beginning are quite hateful as the book progresses. Summer is one character who fits this description, at the start she rejects the rich scene but gets completely sucked in and loses all sense of self, never returning to it.

There are a lot of characters and this was confusing listening to the audio book. I particularly hated the voice given to Molly - although I think you are supposed to hate her so I understand the choice.

The sex scenes were really cringey and it made the book feel cheap. Sure, it’s light hearted and doesn’t take itself too seriously but I’m pretty sure I will forget it instantly. Maybe a good beach read?!

A different genre of book for me .
It lives up to the "sumptuously sexy" headline on the cover.
It is an easy read but at times I found it quite depressing as all the characters take what they want , when they want regardless of any one else.
The insight into the lives of the rich was eye opening as their unending quest for pleasure , wealth and power takes them far and wide.
The sudden violence that erupts was slightly off course to me and the ending of the novel seemed rushed .
None of the characters appealed to me neither could I associate with them .
Definitely a summer read but not necessarily for me .

Oh look it wasn't a literary masterpiece but then I never expected it to be. It's a good holiday/quick read, full of glamour, sexy romps and self-indulgent characters. Yes I enjoyed it. Not sure they needed the murder in it though. It almost came right at the end with no real build up, no decent motive and no proper conclusion. The book would have been better off without it.

Immensely rich, spoiled characters? Check.

One PYT (Pretty Young Thing to you littluns) plucked from anonymity and now living the good life? Check.

Lots of great sex scenes? Check.

Exotic locales, over-the-top luxury, endless stream of parties? Check.

Ridiculous, completely implausible, explosive ending? Unfortunately, check.

Gold Diggers does check all the boxes, though the ending was so eye-rolly I gave up with only a few pages to go. Still, an enjoyable, easy read. The usual beautiful, rich men and women chasing each other, scheming, conniving, fighting, sexing, etc. I couldn't even tell you what the actual plot was, but it's a fun book.

What turned me off was the amount of sex scenes
This book is just chaotic, messy, explicit (corny language:"You've been a very bad boy")Summer's  mom is soo toxic and neglectful like I feel bad for Summer's upbringing  because she was sexually  assaulted by  her mom's boyfriend and its sad that she had a chance at love but it taken away by her mom.I'm not really sure what to think of Karin(update:Karin deffo wants the money from Adam)and as for Erin,it was soo obvious  that her boyfriend was just using her to get information  on Adam(update:I'm so glad she realised about it)

A solid 4.5

The scheming, sleazy and salacious world of the rich and famous is cleverly written and exposing of the snobbery, backstabbing and lack of humility of the women out for it all. Well written interweaving several characters and their stories together. None of them are perfect, most of them far from it and in fact are pretty unlikable but the dramas and scandalous behaviour sucks you in like Kardashian marathon.

The high society story where facts are stranger than fiction. When Billionnaire Adam Gold moves to London, he is immediately surrounded by the polished and the posh. Businesswoman and widow Karen manages to hook his interest, but there are many who will not accept it. From Molly who is the girl friend of his business associate and friend Michael to his naive assistant Erin. The intrigues and intricacies of life in headlines.

This is my first Tasmina Perry book and I will definitely be reading more….

Gold diggers reminded me of a UK based Jackie Collins novel, with its cast of colourful characters, the rich and powerful, the scheming and backstabbing, the immoral and innocents lives intertwining and ultimately getting what they deserved.

Great bit of escapism!

My new favorite, 'beach read' author! Tasmina Perry is my replacement for Jackie Collins.
I was kept entertained and engrossed and enjoyed the escape this book gave me.
It's well worth the read if you like frivolous reads.

Halfway through, the story starts developing small amounts of suspense; and basically - a lot of the women in this book are after Adam Gold; but one of the characters aren't quite who they portray themselves to be. Out of everyone, I would say that Molly Sinclair is the most manipulative. Some of the characters are ruthless, and keep digging themselves deeper into their own mess.

A good read. Definitely a light 'trashy' book, full of sex, drugs, power and women clawing their way to the top of society as a 'rich wife'. I couldn't stand Molly or Karin, and definitely felt a soft spot for Summer and Erin, which I'm sure was the way that Tasmina Perry planned it. Every book has to have at least one antagonist, and this had two! Or, as the book moves on, three. I will not post a spoiler, but suffice to say that a character I initially kind of warmed to, turned into not such a nice person as the book entered its second half. If you enjoy Jackie Collins, Sidney Sheldon or Judith Krantz, then you'll enjoy this book! Although one thing that really bugged me about this book was the appalling proof reading! So many mistakes! I was just incredulous - a major book such as this with so many errors was just ridiculous.

Loved this book, sucked me into the glamorous world of the rich and famous. Couldn't help but like Adam even tho he was an arse. Not really sure about how I felt about the death of one of the main characters near the end. I never saw it coming and I didn't guess who murdered her either, tho when I found out it seemed unlikely. I hated Molly thoughout. How could you do something like that to your own daughter? She was a washed up old slapper! I think I prefer glamorous chick lit above normal chick lit. It's just a bit more exciting.
