Pixie Dust in the Parks #1

Where the Fireflies Dance

Rate this book
Disney history comes alive as two live streamers find love in the shadow of Sleeping Beauty Castle. But with one of them hiding a dangerous secret, their fairy tale romance might just unravel into an unhappily ever after.

@LeahMetotheMagic

I remember the day I met LucaDisNerd.

A Disney creator and live streamer like me, he showed up in my world like a breath of fresh air when I felt like I was drowning.

Lucas was like the best Disney day ever combined with a churro combined with a dole whip with extra pixie dust on top. He was the male equivalent of myself, obsessed with park history and the stories of Disney’s artists and Imagineers. But unlike me, he was free. Free with his laughter, free with his smiles, and free to be totally, unequivocally himself.

Lucas reminded me of what I had lost, and who I aspired to be.

But I could never let him know the darkness of my past. Or who was leaving threats in my comments.

No one could know, least of all Lucas.

I had to keep him safe, even though I could never be again.

@LucaDisNerd

She was breathtaking. Beguiling. And mysterious as the dark side of the… wait. No. More like she was… hiding something. But Leah’s brilliant mind coupled with her knowledge of all things Disney made her more appealing than a Jolly Holiday combo paired with a Raspberry Rose Macaron.

LeahMetotheMagic was someone who finally understood the depth of my love of Disney because she loved it too. She was thrilled to obsess over the history, the secrets, and the trivial details that no one else seemed to care about… no one except me, that is. Leah fell into my life like she had belonged there all along, and making her laugh became my new favorite Disneyland attraction.

There was just one Leah wouldn’t let me in.

She held back a piece of herself for some reason, and I got the sense that she didn’t believe she deserved a happily ever after.

I couldn’t wait to prove her wrong.

Inspired by the author @disneycicerone’s experience as a Disney Parks live streamer and content creator, this clean-read romantic suspense weaves obscure Disney history and all the Disney feels together in a novel designed specifically for anyone who calls the Disney Parks their home.

Lovedddd this book!! This was a cute little romance between two Disney social media influencers. There definitely was a shock factor when things turned for the worse. But it was so romantic and filled with Disney History- some I didn’t even know! It was such a short quick read! I loved it- the only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is because I wish there was a time line and some more of their dates in the beginning of their relationship! In the end I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to get to the next book that will be about their friends!

This book was an easy read that stole my Disney Adult heart. I would reread this story filled with a tortured past, love, patience, slight suspense and the most romantic ending and great takeaways. 🥰

This book was inherently terrible but I had a grand time reading it.

TW because this book desperately needs them: stalking, stabbing, kidnapping, drugging, car accidents, death, gaslighting, emotional abuse, physical abuse

So... I took a chance on this because I thought the idea of listening to something with Disney lore could be fun.

That was true, but it was pervasive. Our FMC even thinks in Disney-isms. It does burn off some as the story starts to evolve, but readers should be aware. This is a story about two social media influencers who stream live from Disney parks every day. Is there any chapter that doesn't refer to Disney in some capacity? Absolutely not.

Our FMC has gone through a heartbreaking experience that makes her slow to trust. Our MMC seems happy and wants to help. Putting aside the Disney being crammed down my throat, I had hope for this short.

It's actually a very sweet story... if you push aside the overbearing Disney references and push aside the cliched climax... but I would say the second half of the book lacks originality. Frankly, it goes on far too long after the climax. It's overdone. If I'm being completely harsh, this story reads as trite Disney fan fiction. There was hope, but the execution was poor.

Narration:
The author narrates! I admire that. I enjoy her voice, and she does a decent job emoting and narrating... but there's zero attempt to differentiate voices. That made it so easy for me to lose track of what was happening.

This is probably a good read for the right person. I wasn't that.

As a Disney fan my entire life, I was excited to find a book based in the Happiest Place on Earth. Leah and Lucas are Disney vloggers that regularly livestream from the Disneyland Resort. A self-taught Disney historian, she loves to wander the park regaling her followers with fun facts about all things Disney. Lucas’ platform is much the same, and eventually they pair up. Leah’s ex is a constant viewer though. Always keeping tabs on her, and he’s not happy about her new friend.
This was a very insta-love story with some thriller aspects. It was fast, and simple, and while I loved the setting, it felt rushed and very much like a fan-fiction story. I hope future stories in this series go a little deeper into their plot lines.

Have you ever wanted to be transported to Disney Land while reading a sweet romance? Look no further. The Fireflies Dance follows two Disney live streamers who have built an online following by sharing their Disney facts and stories with many people daily as they walk around and explore the parks themselves.
When Leah and Lucas meet, they quickly realize how similar they are with comparable amounts of Disney knowledge and favorite fun facts. As they continue to meet at the parks, Leah and Lucas become quick friends, meeting for rides and strolls together. Everything is perfect until Leah's dangerous ex-boyfriend shows up surly, scaring Lucas off for good. Right?
Where the Fireflies Dance is a sweet book that gives a lot of respect and homage to the Disney Land Resort, sharing some fun facts that even I, as a lifelong Disney enthusiast, did not know. While this story may lack some finesse in more experienced writers' works, I still really enjoyed this story for the plot and characters and would be totally open to reading a sequel (I got the vibe that there could be one??).

If you love Disney(land) history, and want a cute little romance with some unexpected twists, this is the book for you. I will say it read a little like a fan fiction, but it was still cute. I wish we got a little more character development, but overall not bad. One thing I’m totally hung up on is that the MFC is allegedly named after Princess Leia but is named Leah (Lee-ah) and I just can’t get over that LOL

As a proud Disney adult, I was thrilled to find this book and it was very cute! However, the love story felt a little rushed and very Hallmark-y. I enjoyed the story, especially the thriller aspect, but I just wanted more depth/substance.

Cute, but dripping with too many cutesy analogies. Some trauma related to stalking, auto accidents, and hostage situations.
