Based on the author's personal recovery experience, this book provides hope for patients who want to end months or years of suffering by following the right path. It is a perfect guide for the 20 million depression and bipolar disorder sufferers and the 100 million plus people who support them. Why It Is Recommended That You Buy Two Or More Copies Of This Book \227 To Share It With Your Doctor & Supporters \227 Owning two copies of this book is recommended because it is immensely effective in teaching your friends and family members how to help you beat your depression or bipolar disorder. I know how difficult it is to get people to understand your disorder. That is why I have written a special chapter specifically for your family and friends to read. This special chapter will not only teach your family and friends how to help you, it will also inspire them to want to help you. Plus, since most people end up reading the whole book after reading this one chapter, they will gain a new understanding about what you are going through. One supporter recently wrote me to say that she bought eight copies after reading the book, because she knew how much it would help other family members to understand the disorder. There is also a special chapter written specifically for your doctor (or therapist). I believe it is important for your doctor to know that you are serious about taking responsibility for your own treatment efforts. Giving them a copy of this book will not only send them this message, it will also show them how you prepare to beat your depression or bipolar disorder using the 3-step formula taught in this book. One of my readers told me she gave a copy to her doctor, and four days later her doctor had recommended the book to five other patients. I hope more doctors share such compassion for their patients.

Bought this to read and then pass on to members of my family so that they could better understand the Polar Bear I live with. Think it helped.

As the mother of a bipolar daughter, I found "Win the Battle, The 3-step Lifesaving Formula to Conquer Depression and Bipolar Disorder" a rather simplistic and repetitive book with little information about the mental disorder at all. However, I suppose it might be encouraging to a person in the middle of a depressive or manic episode--a time when simplicity is the best medicine. Chapter 8,"Melissa's Message to Those Who Love and Support You," is an excellent starting place for family and friends who aren't convinced of the validity of the bipolar patient's inability to manage their own behavior. It's admonishment to become educated in order to support is paramount. Chapters 9 and 10 on "Labels" & "Masks" respectively, also provide needed perspective to the bipolar support person.

It is a quick read, though, and the three chapters listed made it worth the hour I invested in it.

Bob Olson is not a terrific writer, but he's a terrific inspirer. If you care about someone who has bipolar disorder (or if you have it yourself), you will undoubtedly draw inspiration from Bob's against-the-odds story. I know I did.

A great message to keep trying and not give up until you find a solution. Also good for understanding what someone with depression is suffering Nothing "alternative" or about natural remedies in this one just encouragement to keep trying new medications until you find what works.
