I will be using this book as a text in my Bible and the Earth class that I will be teaching in the spring at Howard University School of Divinity. It uses two Pauline texts--Romans 8:19-23 and Colossians 1:15-20--as test cases as to how to read the Bible "in a time of ecological crisis." The treatment is brilliant, I think, as the authors (Horrell, Hunt, and Southgate) to attention to Pauline literature in general, the Bible as a whole, and relevant scientific literature. It can be a bit dense at times, but points are repeated, so the reader has the opportunity to "catch up" if some point seemed a bit obtuse in initial reading. We'll see how the students respond. I hope that they will love it, because I do!
