Slugger by Susan Pearson

Rate this book
Ollie is a slug who loves everything about baseball. More than anything in the world, he wants to make the team. Trouble is, he can't hold a bat. He isn't much of a pitcher either. And he is pretty slow at running the bases. But Ollie is one determined slug...and finally he gets his Big Chance.

Bookaday #48. Slug and baseball fans might both enjoy this cute story about never giving up. Attentive readers may recognize some baseball cliches and old time baseball names.

I read this to my son last night and he fell asleep half way through it (which means it probably should get an extra star). A good book if you are into baseball or for a young person learning the basics. It was interesting to see how a slug would compete at baseball and the difficulties he would have.
