I first heard about Gibbs and his time travelling machine (which looks like a tricorder form Star Trek) from a picture of Art Bell holding it up. Even more interesting is that he is from my home state of Nebraska.
Instructions for building several types of time machines appear throughout the book. One (page 75) shows how you can convert a radio into a time machine.
There are some equations in one section purporting to be "gravitron formulas" and enable you to build a time machine. They have the form "(X, Y = ø)", which is not a recognized mathematical form. (The closest would be "(X, Y) = ø".) In addition, ø may refer to (the number?) zero, "The Twilight Zone", or the golden ratio 1.618... Luckily, the author tells us how to interpret the equations, which are thus really not necessary for the book.
On page 47, there's a report from 2008. (The book was written in 2001.) It's always interesting to see how these things turn out from so-called time travelling reports. In this case, it misses the mark, describing martial law imposed on (at least) the south side of Chicago. The traveller is captured and brought to Soldier Field, which is like some sort of concentration camp.
On page 23, the page is blank except for the instructions: Insert picture titled "the 10th key to the riddle of time", by Steven Gibbs. Oops.
