AKA Elaine Rome

Elaine Barbieri wrote over thirty historical novels that have been published worldwide. She was certain young adult readers would enjoy the excitement of historical romance if given a chance, and she welcomed the opportunity to write Miranda and the Warrior for this new audience. Elaine lived in northern New Jersey with her husband and family, and with Harrison, a demanding male who she is sure would be the ultimate hero -- if he weren't a cat.

Reasonable good read. She is striving to be a Pinkerton out to solve some bank robberies that have been happening. He is the suspect in these bank robberies. When there is a twin it is easy to cause havoc and not get blamed, especially when hardly anyone realizes you exist. This is the case with the suspect and he soon discovers a twin brother. Double trouble.

I love Elaine Barbieri's writing.

I let errands go because I can't put the book down. The Suspence and Romance are wonderfully woven together. Exceptional.

It was ok. I always hate the word "incredulous" in a book. I feel like authors try and be clever by searching a thesaurus and using it... repeatedly... like a new favorite word found. It really does no favors in my opinion.

Aside from that I didn't ever feel it was an older western story. It probably could have just as well been recent days. I couldn't get attached to the main woman. I just had some issues with a proper woman turning into a prostitute over night to become a spy. For one, a smart company wouldn't have taken anyone like that anyway, nor would they had ever taken a woman regardless of anything she did. They certainly wouldn't want anything to do with her once her reputation had been compromised in such a way. Next, she had no issue switching? I find that hard to believe. Ok concept for a story, but just not believable.

I liked the twin's stories. They were more believable and I liked it. I also liked the separate women love stories.

Don't get me wrong... it's a good story and wrote alright, but there's just nothing that really sets it apart from other stories. The ending was cleaned up a little too quick for my taste, but that's just me.

I'll give it a 3.5. It ended up BETTER than I expected. This to me was a romantic western not historical romance, even though its in the same time frame as historical's typically are. I'm glad I give books a chance even though my mind originally wants to skip these books completely. I've found more books out there that I really like after I continue reading. This is 1 of them.

No stars. I was very disappointed with this particular Elaine Barbieri book for various reasons. Unlike her other books where character development was very important and the characters being likeable in addition to be relatable these particular characters were shallow and unlikable. Previous books had plot with many twists and turns and you couldn't wait to see what happened next- this one centered around primal lust and while there was intrigue, betrayal, the love the characters had for each other much alone themselves was too forced.
