If you are set out to hate on crystals, then don't read books about crystals. For those who love crystals, this book is very good. It has got wonderful photography, a great structure based on all the things you can do with crystals. The author also write about pendulums, crystals dishes, romantic decoration and water fountains. She also tells you in which form or color you should get a certain stone per use. I discovered so many colors and new crystals. Red jaspis, dark blue sodalite, it all looks very appealing and I just want it in my life now, as an extension of my interests and my eclectic decoration. It's just a really nice book telling you what you can do with crystals. She doesn't claim it's science, nor does she recommend any harmful advice such as making crystal elexirs. The book motivated me to buy more crystals, just because I love to collect and watch them. I do feel like they give off a positive vibration but I will not let an author tell me to believe anything, I am wise enough to make my own decissions. To me, a crystal chandelier is still better than a glass one. So what's not to like about crystals and minerals, as long as it is not the harmful kind like asbestos or vanadinite?
Bad: * Absolutely ridiculous. The author is spouting lies about crystals having innate powers that ranges from healing sickness to bringing success.
One of the more absurd examples is: "Keeping away computer viruses with Malachite". Basically put a Malachite stone on your desk and it will become "your own personal guardian against viruses that can attack your computer via the internet and email. Its healing energy can be an added repellent to any new viruses that are attacking software programs and can be used alongside your dedicated anti-virus program."
I refuse to believe that someone can be so stupid to believe and write such garbage. So the author must be purposefully making up non-sense and presented them as the truth.
I loved this book. I think some of the meditations were way neat just on their own (no crystal meditations for me thanks). It had stuff from Feng Shui, Astrology, Birth stones, etc. I will keep this one handy.
As a beginner in gems and healing crystals, I enjoyed flipping through the pages and absorbing information here and there. However, when I got serious it was too much for me to ingest. Perhaps, as knowledge grows, information will flow more smoothly.
