These art critics (at least this author!) seem to feel a need to prove themselves intelligent rather than makes themselves clear. They are all weaving Emperor's new clothes ambiguity, which if called out they can declare you "stupid" or "uneducated" instead of declaring in understandable terms their interpretation and analysis of an artist.
I feel like J-L C *almost* made some interesting observations, but muddled them—perhaps to protect himself from being thought "simple"?
As for Rohner, like most modern artists, he has subjugated the heart to the mind, making painting an intellectual rather than an emotional exercise, but, to his credit, not in a disinteresting way.
