Metal forming which is considered the back bone of manufacturing industry, could not be included as a subject in the curriculum of many technical universities in india for a longtime, mainly due to the non-availability of teachers trained in the subject and lack of appropriate study material. The author has conducted research in metal forming and has taught the subjects of metal forming analysis and metal forming technology to the graduate and undergraduate students of iit bombay and iit delhi for a total period of more than 35 years, during which time, he also guided many ph.d scholars and m.tech. Students for their projects. The book has been written in the same way as the subject was taught by the author over so many years. The presentation of the material is such that the students should not feel any difficulty in understanding theory of plasticity and metal forming analysis.
