1987, trade paperback, Perigee / Putnam, NY. The author is a Canadian who has sent out letters to "people of consequence," basically giving them the business, asking for return letters.
Ok, so this guy, accordingl to the jacket, "...has selflessly assumed the daunting burden of establishing a vital link between the ordinary person and People of Consequence who exercise their influence on our everydat lives." In other words, he wrote letters to people such as the Pres. of American Exprexx, Coca-Cola, Proctor & Gamble, etc. (as well as Prince Charles, Oprah, and the Ayatollah Khomeini -- OK it WAS published in the 80s -- and got responses, which are included in the book.
He asked some fairly outrageous questions, and made some comments that people responded to (more or less seriously). I kept this book for years because I have a page dog-eared (ironically) that ALWAYS makes me laugh. In this letter, he wrote to P & G about their fabulous product, "new Bounce" which he has been feeding to the dogs in his kennels and which has given them a fabulous shiny coat along with a mild disposition. He asks for info on a source for a larger supply at less cost. They respond seriously, and for whatever reason, it just cracks me up every time I read it.
Anyhow, one of those books that makes you say "what a great idea" -- at least if you are a sarcastic pest like I am.
