In this collection of fourteen talks, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda teaches students how to cultivate yoga discipline of the senses on the Siddha Yoga path.
Sometimes I come across a book that simply changes my life. This book changed mine. A big fan of yoga, I've read so, so many books on the subject. This book, however, on the issue of discipline, really puts the reins in our hands and gives us direction and understanding. Sadly I find in my own case, and possibly the same is true for you, discipline is rarely taught or encouraged. The wisdom and sound reasons for living with discipline becomes a basis for inspired living through the contents of this book Almost artfully presented, this little book is a gem.
I read this book years ago when I first started yoga- asana practice. Now 30 plus years on, the teachings found in this book still resonate but more profoundly. I gave my hardback copy away. Now I’ll have it to read again as an e-book. 🙏🏻Justyn
The book has a lot of good thoughts like control on desire and senses, and moderation. But also a lot of illogical and outdated ideas like chanting, mantras and God. Some examples and analogies made sense, others not so much. In the end it was a drag.
I've thought of the discipline of my senses each day since beginning this book. How Discipline gives you Freedom. Good perspective overall. As all Yoga books, gives insight into our daily lives and how to live 'better'.
¡¡¡¡Me encantó!!!!

Full of great insight explained in a way that really resonates with me. References many classic yoga texts with contemporary application. This is one I'll keep on the shelf for reference time and time again.
