First book required for my doctoral program in music education.
Contemporary Music Education (4th ed) is an excellent survey of music education in the USA from the Pilgrims around 1620 through the early 2010’s when the book was published. It was refreshing to see the original template for why music was first taught in the schools in comparison to the multiple expectations put on music educators in our days.
