Super cute book about a family going to the country for the summer and finding a dog caught in a trap. When they return home, their shady landlord threatens them with eviction if they don’t get rid of the dog. The kids are suspicious of the landlord and start following him and his wife.

This was made into a movie, but I haven’t been able to find it yet.
