Newberry Springs #3

Everything but You

Rate this book
I expected to feel some nerves while standing in my wedding dress, waiting to marry my fiancé.

What I didn’t expect though was for my high school sweetheart to enter the room and beg for me not to walk down the aisle.

Running into Forrest Gibson two weeks before my wedding surprised the hell out of me, but not as much as how quickly my feelings for the man came rushing back
.
Apparently he felt the same way though, but I didn’t get a chance to tell him the feeling was mutual before he left.

So I walked out of the church and followed my heart all the way back to Newberry Springs, Texas, and the Gibson Ranch to start a new job and fight for the love of my life back.

Turns out his mother never told him that I was coming though—or that there would be a ring missing from my left hand.

Now Forrest is grumpier than ever, accusing me of not knowing what I want. But I’m determined to show him that I’m back for good.

It’s just hard to face the past when the future is uncertain too. And when the truth about our past comes out, I’m not sure how we could make it through.

Can we heal the hurt? Can we reveal the truth?

And most importantly, can I finally hear him say, “I had everything but you.”

- Grumpy Hero

This is the third and final book in the Newberry Springs series. All books can technically be read as standalones, but I would recommend reading in order.

I am such a sucker for second chance romances, and I just knew I was going to fall in love with Grumpy Gibson. I can't say he is my favorite because honestly, I love everyone in the Gibson family so much. They are such a loving, feel good family, even with all the meddling.

Everything But You sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions, and I enjoyed every second of it. It was angsty, and emotional while also remaining lighthearted. I loved the fact that Forrest and Shauna didn't exactly rush into things once they were near each other again and that they overcame their obstacles together.
Such a bittersweet ending to this trilogy, but I cannot wait to see what the author has coming in the future.

This was such a different book from the ones I usually read when it comes to second chance romance. Two people who had dreams to have a life together, only for her to leave him when they are in different universities. Years later they meet but he finds she is getting married. He crashes her wedding to ask her to come back to their town. Months later she does come but as the event coordinator for his mother.

She grovels and grovels hard, there is push & pull a lot of spice, meddling family and confessions that are gonna heal you.

“I had everything but you. That’s why. I would gladly give up everything else in my life over and over again if it meant that I had you. That’s all I wanted, all I needed, but you still pushed me away.”

I liked the book a lot and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

A sweet and emotional second chance romance with the best HEA🥹

This is my fav out of the series! Forrest and Shauna fight so hard for their HEA and I loved every minute of it! It’s rare to see the girl grovel and while I normally wouldn’t like it, I loved it here!! Shauna realizes how much she needs Forrest and fights to get him back and prove her love!

It was the perfect mix of swoony, angsty and still have no third act breakup which I LOVE!

Great end to the series 🙌🏻

Everything But You is an emotional second-chance romance with many ups and downs. Forrest and Shauna are high school sweethearts who planned to attend college together and then return to their hometown to start their lives. When Shauna changes the plan, Forrest is left to cope with a broken heart. Some years later, they run into each other in Vegas. After sharing a meal, Forrest is about to make a move, but to their surprise, Shauna's fiance shows up. With encouragement from his brothers Wyatt and Walker, Forrest makes one last effort to get Shauna back, but unfortunately, she has already moved forward with her wedding. I adored Forrest and Shauna. They were so good together, and witnessing them find each other again was heartwarming. Forrest and Shauna had so much love for each other, and their chemistry was palpable. I loved the character growth and their learning to trust again. Everything But You is well-written and is a great end to this series.

NARRATION (SERIES):
Angelina Rocca and Dane Anderson delivered a duet-style narration for all three books in the Newberry Springs series. They did a wonderful job voicing Kelsea, Wyatt, Evelyn, Walker, Shauna, Forrest, and all other characters throughout the three stories. Angelica and Dane expertly portrayed the characters' personalities, did well with accents, delivered perfect intonations, and made all the characters distinguishable.

Spice - 🌶🌶🌶

Trope - High school sweethearts, second chance romance, it's always been you, grumpy × sunshine, friends to lovers, runaway bride, she grovels, heartache, meddlesome family, smalltown, rom-com, steamy, surprise pregnancy, found family
Bonus chapter - 1

This one was surprisingly good. After falling in love with the last book, I didn't think this one could compete, but I was wrong. A glimpse into their past made my heart flutter—they were so lovely together. However, with all the heartbreak, how things turned out was incredibly emotional.

Forrest. Wow, you’re telling me that this guy was a millionaire(sort of), a quarterback in his small-town league, enjoyed boxing, has an impressive physique, and also played guitar? The hotness factor is off the charts! I can't help but feel bad for Wyatt. Why are both his brothers so attractive and talented while he seems to just be Wyatt?

I hated how he found out about her engagement, but seeing Forrest in pain was heartbreaking. He didn’t deserve it, and he was unaware of the entire situation —so I don't blame him for making his pass at the only woman he ever loved. Also, I understand where Shauna was coming from, but I was really frustrated with her for breaking this wonderful man's heart—not once, but twice. After all that, Forrest still had a tiny glimmer of hope. That love confession was so vulnerable, and I’m so proud that he finally said what his heart has always wanted to express.

But then, you know I screamed out loud when Shauna showed up outside the Gibson house because, oh my gosh, our grumpy Gibson was going to get his happily ever after! Her "I came back for you," was all I needed. Yes, Shauna, you did come back, and I’m so glad you made that choice. However, I loved how Forrest didn’t just give in; he made her grovel for his love.

I enjoyed seeing her grovel—even though she didn't deserve it—it was necessary for them to build a stronger foundation for their broken relationship before moving deeper. And the way she teased him now and then was a cherry on top.

The jealousy games along with their iconic banter were so fun to read; I genuinely enjoyed every bit of it.

Imagine my shock when I realized , Like, oh my gosh, seriously? It took me minutes to process it wasn’t a typo—it was the reality, but then I understood the reason.

Their rekindling moments were beautifully written, highlighting their chemistry, even as they kept denying it. Every tiny step they took toward a future together made me feel content and happy; their progress felt personal. I was in complete awe when they both decided to take a chance and try things on their terms. This one was spicing-they were compensating for lost time- it’s often the grumpy ones who have the filthiest thoughts and actions and Forrest was no exception.

I loved how this book included more involvement from their families—Forrest needed them even if he would never admit it. They showed him what he was missing and how much they loved him, which soothed my heart.

I appreciated how Shauna fought for him and also fought alongside him against his demons. Forrest was so lost in his misery that he needed her help to see the brightness in the world and the love his family had for him. I cried my eyes out when Forrest finally them in, and they got to see him play and be himself.

The girl gang, aka the DIL's relationship, was pure bliss to read. Both Evelyn and Kelsea not only welcomed Shauna but also teased, supported, and bonded with her.

The absence of protection indicated what was about to happen, and I wasn't surprised at all. Forrest and Shauna truly deserved this happiness after everything they had endured.

Even though this was a five-star book, I have to admit that Walker is my man! No one can claim him. Yes, Forrest and Wyatt were lovely, but nothing beats a golden retriever brother.

Watching Shauna and Forrest fall back in love was the best part. The even more beautiful aspect was how we got a happy ending with all the Gibson family members. What a great way to conclude this series! I’m not lying when I say I’m going to miss these characters and their warmth.

The epilogue was beautiful, and honestly, everything was going fine until—–I have second-hand embarrassment issues, and this reminded me of that infamous scene from Twisted Love. I nearly wanted to drop the rating just because of that, but I’m better than that, so I didn’t. Despite that one thing, it was a great book; everything from the beginning to end was lovely—the meddlesome family, the crazy twin brothers, the drama, the angst, the love—everything was spot on!

The bonus epilogue was good but I kinda wanted to see a family reunion and a bit more.

Overall, it was a good book, but the epilogues were somewhat disappointing.
Overall 5/5

📚Story review📚
Everything But You is Forrest and Shauna’s story and without a doubt, my favorite of the three. Capturing a complexity of emotions and the journey of two souls finding their way back to each other, I loved it. Forrest is the quintessential grumpy and stoic character, “locked up tight like a bank vault”, having been heartbroken more than once by the very woman he loves. His self-imposed isolation even keeps his own family at arm's length.

After “having” to give up his college football scholarship, Forrest returns to his small town to take over a construction business. Despite his success, there’s a part of him that feels incomplete. A chance encounter at a convention in Las Vegas brings a blast from his past—Shauna—back into his life, reopening his heart and sparking hope for one last attempt at love.

Shauna’s new job, taken on a whim, places her right where she least expects to be, and she accepts it as a sign. Forrest and Shauna working through their past and present issues is both heartwarming and intense. His love for Shauna is deep and unwavering, and I found myself devouring every moment of their journey.

These Gibson brothers, with their rugged charm and tattooed allure, fall hard when they love, and Forrest is no exception possibly falling the hardest. The meddling and endearing “Mama G” plays a crucial role, ensuring her sons don’t let their chances at happiness slip away. Without her, these men would indeed be up a creek!

And the elf scene—what I wouldn’t give to see the smokin’ hot Gibson brothers dressed as elves! It adds a delightful, humorous touch that perfectly balances the book's more intense moments.

Overall, this book is a beautifully crafted story of love, redemption, and second chances. It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys a heartfelt small town romance with well-developed characters and the happiest ending the even the characters don’t see coming. I loved every page and can’t wait for Willow’s story!

What a great ending to a great series. IMO, we saved the best for last. There's nothing like a grumpy MMC! Forrest and Shauna were high school sweethearts. They had big plans to get married and take over his family's ranch. Unfortunately, life didn't quite turn out that way for them. Fast forward, years and years later, they run into each other in Las Vegas. But surprise! Shauna has a fiance. Forrest's brothers convince him to try to stop the wedding. Will they get a second chance?

I'm obsessed with Forrest. He was grumpy but underneath that tough exterior, it was just because his heart was broken. The way he loved Shauna was 😍😍😍 I loved to see the woman grovel for once. I appreciated that he didn't give in so easily since his heart was broken multiple times but once he did it was fireworks. I loved seeing them work through all their pain and heartbreak and find their way back to each other.

Once again, Angelina Rocca and Dane Anderson did a fantastic job narrating. They seriously nailed it. Dane has such a deep, growly voice and Angelina brings the sweetness.

For Shauna, Forest will always be “The One Who Got Away”, she broke his heart years ago. Now that she’s getting married in 2 weeks, meeting him again in Vegas is the last thing she expected, or was it a sign that she made the wrong choice…?

Forest is the last single brother in the family, he’s the oldest and didn’t understand how his brothers could settle down that quickly in their life. It turns out he’s still hung up on his first love, even after he broke his heart more than a decade ago. They have a sweet and short reunion in Vegas while he’s on a business trip, and though they still have the sparks, he soon finds out that Shauna is engaged and to be married in weeks. Brokenhearted for the second time he left and resigned himself to work in Newberry Spring. He never expected Shauna to show up weeks later for a job in his town, without a ring on her finger.

What I like about this book is groveling heroine, Shauna definitely has to do a lot of work to win Forest back. Not for what she did in the past, as I completely understand why she had to do that. Forest was understandably hesitant to pick up their relationship right away, so he insisted they go back to being friends first, but we know that’s never gonna work.

However, both of them are quite frustrating at times, they keep secrets/details from each other again and again, how are you going to make it work? It seems like they have some sort of misunderstanding every few chapters where one gets upset and they makeup, and then REPEAT. Fortunately, there isn’t a big one to cause a third-act breakup, otherwise, it will drive me bonkers.

Apart from that, I think this was quite a sweet and steamy second-chance romance, I love that trope and always enjoy them. Angelina Rocca and Dane Anderson give us a stellar performance, I absolutely love their narration and highly recommend getting an audio version.

Forest and Shauna had a once in a lifetime kind of love when they were younger. Things happened in Shauna’s life that pulled her in a different direction, away from Forest.

Now here we are over a decade later and they come face to face in a random encounter. But the problem is, Shauna is getting married in two weeks and Forest feels his heartbreaking all over again.

Decisions are made and the trajectory of both of their lives changes, but will they be able to get their happy ending with this second chance?

I think this ended up being my favorite book in the series! Forest is the grumpiest, but when he’s with Shauna, I truly felt his vulnerability and I absolutely loved that.

While I didn’t agree with all of Shauna’s decisions, I understood where she was coming from for the most part. I loved when she came and got what she wanted in Forest.

Dane Anderson and Angelina Rocca did a great job with the narration for this book. I loved Dane’s grumpiness mixed with vulnerability. He brought Forest’s character to life. Angelina brought Shauna’s character full circle from her confidence in the beginning, to the fight that she brought to win Forest back.

“I'm all in, Shauna. I'm so fucking in. This time is different. There are no more secrets. We know what we both want, and I want you, baby. I want you to stay. Stay here with me.”

Everything But You is the third and final installment in the Newberry Springs series and follows Forrest, the eldest Gibson brothers, and Shauna, his high school sweetheart. Their relationship didn't exactly end well, and years later they're set to cross paths in Las Vegas, and Shauna is due to get married.

We learned more about Forrest in Walker's book, especially why he was so grumpy. His ex-girlfriend, who he never got over, was set to marry someone else, and when it was hinted that he was going to try to stop the wedding, I was very excited to read this book. I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint, and that I really enjoyed it!

From the moment Forrest and Shauna reconnected, there were a lot of tension and angst between them to the point that I couldn't stop reading. It was as clear as the day that they still had a lot of feelings for each other. They both fought for each other and for what they wanted, and I loved the fact that everyone around them was trying to get them to spend as much time together as possible. We also got glimpses of Forrest and Shauna when they were together in high school, and it felt like they were the cutest! As the story unfolds, they try to let go of the past to build a stronger relationship and be more honest and vulnerable with each other. It was very emotional and made me love them even more!

Overall, I had a wonderful time reading Everything But You, and the entire Newberry Spring series, and I can't wait to read more of Harlow James' work!

This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down to save my life! I just knew when Forrest was getting his own book his was gonna be my favorite. There is just something about a grumpy hero that does something to me!

Everything but You follows Forrest and Shauna. They had their whole life planned out until Shauna decided she wanted to track her dad down since he left when she was 3 years old. Forrest wasn’t found of this idea but they tried to make long distance work until it became to much the only thing is Shauna never told Forrest why she was changing her mind on their future they planned. Well years later Forrest has a convention for work in Vegas where Shauna was last known to be. He never thought he’d run into her nor did he think he’d be one to try to stop her from marrying someone else… Will they get a second chance at love?!

I can say that this is one of my favorite books with the second chance trope and that, my friends, is saying a lot 🥹

I loved the story of Forest and Shauna, Harlow has such a fluid way of writing that I read this book in one sitting, from them being high school sweethearts, planning everything so that with one event in Shauna's life everything changed and this is where I say that I was surprised because normally I always have a reserve for the problems that separate couples in this trope, yes she has her secret but when they broke up she showed her face and although she didn't tell him why, she did tell him that everything ended between them instead of running away and I applaud that. Forest on the other hand, my grumpy man, I liked that he didn't make it easy for her even when he wanted to, that he took his time with her and that there was no big drama when everything was discovered about her.

I'm a fan of the Gibson family and this book, which is the last in this mini-series, makes me sad because I would love to read about them forever. How did they treat Shauna so well? but without neglecting Forest's feelings, and that is an absolute win for me.

This book takes place at Christmas time, around a Christmas party at the Gibson farm, so it could be perfect for this Christmas, and although it is part of a series, it can be read completely alone, but my recommendation is to read the two previous books, which are about Forest's twin brothers.

Thanks to the author for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!!

---

Everything but you by Harlow James is the final book in The Newberry Springs and as sad as I am that is over I was so happy to finally get Forrest and Shauna's story!
We have been getting breadcrumbs of Forrest for the past two books and I was FERAL FOR THEM! A grumpy man (in fiction) is my catnip! In real life l'd just cry at a grumpy man but anyway this isn't about me.
Shauna and Forrest being highschool sweethearts and getting their second chance in their 30's is honestly think the only way a second chance should be done!
The feels, tension and angst is superior. Harlow delivered the second chance I craved from these two.
I loved how HUMAN and real Forrest is with his feelings and trust with Shauna. And I also loved watching his journey with his family he had been so closed off with.
Shauna was strong! She left a wedding! Ended an engagement and that is not an easy thing especially hearing EVERYONES thoughts and feelings on it. I really related to Shauna and I loved watching her OWN her feelings and knowing and trusting herself fully!
Of course the found family and family meddling was just as prevalent in this book as with the past two books but Mama G took it up a notch and had me
CACKLING!

What a beautiful ending to the series!
I listened to an advanced copy of the audiobook and it's fantastic! Performed in dual narration by Angelina Rocca and Dane Anderson. Both narrators performances were so good. They brought out all the emotions and the dialogue was executed so well. The audiobook is another great listening experience. Hands down my favorite book and Forrest is my favorite brother. There's just something about a guy being a grump to everyone except the girl.

Tropes include: small town romance, second chance, runaway bride, right person wrong time and grumpy/sunshine.

Forrest and Shauna were high school sweethearts. They had their entire future ahead of them, but unexpectedly the plans changed affecting their entire futures. Years later Forrest and Shauna run into eachother again and find they still have strong romantic feelings for eachother. Has enough time past that they can forgive eachother? Only time will tell.

I loved Forrest. He's a hard worker, he loves and cares deeply for his family and Shauna. Shauna was fun, and easy going. I loved how we got to spend more time with the Gibson family. They are a fun group to be around.

I did struggle though with both of their indecisions in the present timeline. I understood both their perspectives of their past decisions. Why they did what they did. They had some issues that had to be resolved.

Overall, Forrest and Shauna's story was a bumpy road. They had to go through a bunch of obstacles to get where they are now. If you love second chance romance and small town vibes check this one out!

She just doesn’t miss for me! Everything she writes I love. This one was no exception. I’m a little sad that The Newberry Springs series is complete. I’m going to miss the Gibson family. But I’m so excited to see where she’s going to take us next.
This second chance romance was done so well. Forrest has only ever had eyes for Shauna. While Shauna had to make decisions for herself that tore them apart for many years, the way they are ultimately brought together again is beautiful. I have to say I’m impressed with how Shauna’s ex was handled. Often they are made to look like horrible people. This was written perfectly.
🥰One of my favorite things in books is when other characters from other books show up. The cameos in this were ✨gold✨. Loved seeing some of my favorites again. (If you haven’t read Guily as Charged you are missing out!)

💕Highlights
-That woman was the entire sun on her own in my world, but I guess I wasn’t the same for her.
-The woman they should name a hurricane after, given the way she just stormed right back into my life and knocked the pillars of what I thought I knew to the ground.
-I had everything but you."

This is book 3 it can be read alone but just don't, the Gibson brothers are worth it.
Also, if you are saving December for holiday reads, honestly this fits. It's more holiday than some of the marketed Christmas books I've read. Shauna is planning the towns Christmas event and there are elf costumes 😉.

Forrest lost his first love over 15 years ago and when he finds out she's about to walk down the aisle he goes after her knowing in his heart it's what is right.
Things go all wackadoodle and the path back together is told beautifully.

Momma G meddling is my absolute favorite. I laughed a lot in this one.

Shauna was the one groveling in this one, trying to win Forrest back and I loved that change form the norm.

I stand on the ship that she should have grovelled more. My guy put his heart out on the line TWICE and got rejected, and she acted like the victim the entire way through.

THE ANGSSTTT

If you love a second chance at love this book is for YOU. It’s not an easy ride, these two had to fight tooth and nail for their happy ending, but it made the HEA even sweeter. They genuinely had to work for their love to prevail. And there were a lot of lies to forgive.

Everything But You starts with a flashback that immediately makes your tummy hurt. Young Shauna and Forrest are deeply in love, but a change in plans derails their dreams of a white picket fence type of love. Though they had plans of attending college together at Texas A&M, Shauna decides to move away to Vegas instead leaving Forrest behind. They try to make long distance work, but Shauna isn’t willing to budge when Forrest begs her to come home. With broken heart, the two separate and cut off all communication.

It’s not until years later that Shauna and Forrest cross paths again. Their lives have changed considerably. Forrest is a college drop out leading a highly successful construction company. And Shauna is a wedding planner who’s planning her own special day. That’s right—She’s engaged now and about to get married in just a few days. Forrest turns to his brothers for advice, and they suggest to… ruin the wedding. Okay, maybe not RUIN it, but that he needs to be there before she says, “I do.”

And that’s where the roller coaster begins.

These two were so frustrating at times, but that’s what made the characters feel so realistic. Nobody actually has to right answer the first time around. It takes determination to work through tough times. I loved the way the characters had to learn to trust each other again. While I’m sure some will classify this under the “miscommunication trope” but these two were straight up LYING. All for what they thought was the greater good, but still. So much could have been avoided if they had simply, told the truth in the beginning.

Even though I wanted to throttle them, I was so invested in their story. With each hurdle I was at the edge of my seat and by the end, I was so gleefully happy for them.

If you haven’t picked this series up yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING? It’s so freakin cute and angsty in the best way. Plus it’s complete now, so you have no excuse.

This felt like the perfect ending to this series. The cameos from all the other characters had me grinning from ear to ear, and I was especially excited to see Maddox and Penelope’s appearance. Nothing makes me happier than when characters interact across series. So I felt blessed that we got to see old characters and had fun new ones to look forward to. Shauna brought a whole crew of new faces to Harlow James’s world, and I was loving them.

I’m especially excited that Shauna’s best friend Willow is getting her own book / new spinoff series taking place in North Carolina. From the moment she was introduced, I was laughing out loud at her fiery antics. I can’t wait to see what’s waiting for her in Carrington Cove.

ALC AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:

Everything But You is the third and final book in the Newberry Springs series and possibly my favorite of the series. This book was about Forrest and Shauna. Forrest is the older brother of Wyatt and Walker from the first two books, and while listening to their book I was very curious about Forrest, the grumpy brother never wanting to do anything or be with anyone, so getting to his book was exciting. Forrest and Shauna were high school sweetheart and the epitome of young true love, that is, till Shauna changes her mind to what college she’s going to last minute. As they originally planned to go to the same college, Forrest finds himself at a Texas school and Shauna moved to Las Vegas to embark on her own journey, when long distance doesn’t work the two of them go in different directions. It’s not till 15 years later that they run into each other in Las Vegas. While Forrest still to this day can’t get Shauna off his heart it seems she may have moved on and has a wedding coming up in 2 weeks. I love a second chance romance and this one was so fun. You could feel the strong connection between Shauna and Forrest when they were younger and again the moment they see each other after all those years. I really enjoyed seeing them branch out in their own lives as adults but you couldn’t help but root for their HEA together too.

Angelina Rocca and Dane Anderson did an amazing job on this series and to be honest when the same narrators do an entire series you sometimes have a hard time separating the characters but the way Angelina and Dane narrated these books I never felt that, not once. They were able to voice each character so well and give them their own personalities and emotions. This is a sweet series with the best family and I always enjoy how Harlow James can put a series together so well and make you fall for all the characters.

I received the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Many thanks to the team at The Author Agency and Harlow James for giving me the opportunity to read this great book before its release 🩷.

One 👏🏻 of 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 best 👏🏻 romance 👏🏻 books 👏🏻 I've 👏🏻 read, period.

I can't tell you how MUCH I loved this book. It has everything you could ask for from a second chance romance.

I literally ate the book up, Forrest is my top crush right now, a man who knows how to communicate and as stubborn as he is he always ends up saying what he feels and laying his cards on the table and trying to fix everything they did wrong in the past.
PLEASE MAKE MORE CHARACTERS LIKE THAT.
I can't believe how well written all the characters are, ALL of them, there isn't a single one that you say meh I don't like him/her.

Shauna, she won my heart from minute one. I love how her character has evolved over the course of the story, I love how she put her needs before the needs of the people she loves most in this world. At the end of the day we all have to live with ourselves and if we are not able to forgive our own mistakes and find that inner peace, how are you going to be able to love other people.

I can say that this is the best Second Chance Romance I've read so far, it's not usually my cup of tea, but this book is perfect.

Please give it a chance and read it. You don't need to read the first two to understand the story, something I also loved.

I'm so glad I read this book because I've discovered a great new author with an unbeatable writing style and I can't wait to read more books by her 🤩.

Forest and Shauna are high school sweethearts. Planning on going to college together in Texas, then move back to the small town of Newberry Springs and take over Forest’s family farm. Then Shauna changes her mind and goes to NV. She has a scholarship and she wants to rekindle her relationship with her dad. Over time they slowly shift apart and break up. Forest was ready to drop everything for her but she wanted space.

Now, years later, Forest owns a large well known construction company and is sent to Vegas for a convention. He’s nervous to go there because Shauna lives there and he wants to no chance of running into her. His friend/co-worker tells him there’s no chance so he gives in. His last day there he is enjoying a drink and hears her voice. Coming face to face with Shauna. They catch up, feelings are so strong and he’s about to kiss her but her fiancé shows up. Devastated he goes back home.

He tells his brothers Wyatt and Walker(book 1&2) and they tell him to go get his girl. He flies back to Vegas and tells her he wants her and fly back with him. Shauna is so shocked by his arrival so by the time it catches up with her she’s at the end of the aisle.

6 weeks later…

Family dinner is going on and the door bell rings. Shauna is there, and she’s ready to fight for Forest.

This book was so many highs and lows. In the beginning, I couldn’t stand Shauna. Then in the middle I wanted to punch Forest and then the ending was beautiful. This book also comes with An amazing playlist. Loved all the music Harlow dropped in this book!

This is absolutely the best book in the series. You need to read them all to appreciate that, because you need to get to know the entire Gibson family and you'll get a hint of the history that's involved in this story.

Shauna & Forrest broke up (she broke up with him) when they were sophomores in college after a couple of years of long distance dating. They were both holding back their complete truths, which all come out over the course of this book.

Forrest does the right thing when he sees Shauna just before she's supposed to marry another man 15 years later, but he doesn't hang around long enough to see that she felt his words in her heart, which still belonged to him all these years later.

When she comes back to the Gibson Ranch in Newberry Springs for a job posted by Momma G (which was absolutely a sign that she was doing the right thing), she's got her work cut out for her. She needs to show Forrest that he was right about them being meant to be together. They both have to get out all the truths they'd been withholding before they can get on the same page.

Forrest is the grumpiest hero I've ever read, I'm pretty sure. He's got a reason. It's really sweet to see him realize that Shauna did the right thing all those years ago, because she was doing what was right for her. Could they have stayed together at the time? Probably - but the years apart just served to reinforce their ultimate destiny was going to bring them together for their HEA. It just took time and truth.

Forrest and Shauna's second chance romance is an emotional ride! These two are definitely soul mates with a love so deep you can't help but root for from the start. They're HEA is hard-won and beautiful!

They fall in love when they're both so young. Between secrets and distance, they break up. It absolutely broke my heart! Fast forward fifteen years and Shauna is about to marry the wrong man. I love the courage it takes for Forrest to try and stop the wedding. It gives her the kick in the pants she needed to walk away and go after who she really wants, Forrest.

Forrest is known as the "grumpy Gibson" and I can't say that I blame him. He lost the love of his life when he was far too young. When he loves, he loves hard. And when Shauna shows up to win him back, I cheered! I loved that the MFC was the one doing the winning back instead of the MMC. It was a refreshing take on a second chance romance. These two definitely have a lot to work through, but boy was it worth it! Once they get past the hurt, they find that their love for one another is even stronger than before. Watching them rediscover their love and get to know each other again was everything I hoped for and more.

This was the perfect ending to this series. We get to see everyone from previous books and I just love the Gibson family! Bravo, Harlow! Chef's kiss!

As high school sweethearts, they thought they had life planned out.
At nineteen, they just weren’t quite ready for forever.

15 years later, Shauna is about to marry someone else & Forrest can’t let her go without a fight. Thankfully Shauna realizes she’s just been going through the motions, and this isn’t right for her either.

I loved how fiercely Forrest loved Shauna, and never truly gave up on his dream of their happily ever after.

It was different having the fmc be the one to sort of “grovel” and need to prove herself - I loved that they didn’t jump right back into things, but slowly rebuilt the trust they once had.

It’s always fun in a series when you get to the last book & you get a little bit more of your fav characters! Walker + his little owl will always make me smile 🥰

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

These Gibson brothers so swoony but I think Grumpy Gibson, the eldest brother, may be the swooniest. I knew back in book 2 I was gonna love Forrest. He’s super grumpy but he has good reason. He put all his eggs in the Shauna basket, but when life didn’t exactly go to his plan, and she decided to do things for her, he broke and kept everyone at arms length, including his family. Years later, a couple weeks before Shauna was due to get married to someone else, it’s almost a fated mates situation, the universe crosses their paths and they come back together. They have a lot to work through to to get to their happily ever after, but with hard work and determination, and the fact that Grumpy Gibson refuses to let her go again, they may be able to make it work.

Angelina and Dane killed it again on this narration. They did so great bringing all the characters to life.

This was the perfect ending to the Newberry Springs Trilogy.

I had been waiting on Forrest to get his happily ever after. This Grumpy/Sunshine, second chance romance trope is right up my alley and Harlow James delivered!

Forrest, after experiencing heartbreak, built a wall around himself that kept his heart guarded better than Fort Knox. He threw himself into his work and kept everyone at arm's length. He wasn't the typical "grumpy" in that he didn't like the MMC - he was grumpy in a way that he just didn't like ANYONE. His life wasn't whole.

Shauna was the love of his life and broke his heart to pursue her dreams. Las Vegas called to her for more reasons than one and off she went. She changed who she was, but one fateful night Forrest showed up in the same bar as her and that's when it gets started.

This was truly the HEA I was hoping for. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I’ve been waiting for Forrest’s story and it does not disappoint. You just knew there was so much love behind the grumpy Gibson and once you realize the true depths of it you understand. Forrest’s love for Shauna goes beyond words and for him to finally break the shell of the person he has been without her was such a relief to everyone in his family. When Shauna and Forrest finally talked and put everything all out in the open you can see both sides of their stories and you realize it’s how it was meant to go and that their love for each other runs so deep.

This was the perfect conclusion to the Newberry Springs series and I like how it leads into @harlowjamesauthor new series coming out next year so hopefully we will get some small updates on the happy Gibson families.
I also loved the Easter egg of Maddox Taylor and Penelope from Now’s the Time, my favorite book in the ladies who brunch series.

Thank you @harlowjamesauthor for this eARC and a spot on your ARC team!
