Damn, it was hella entertaining. I had a good time with this manga. And Hades? Oh man, the art, the vibe—everything about him is so ridiculously well done that I straight-up fell for him myself.

Imagine The Bachelor meets Greek mythology and basically you get Lord Hades's Ruthless Marriage. It was funny, entertaining, and I had a good time reading it. I definitely want to get the next volume to see how this goes! The art is beautiful and there are some pages that you just need to take a second to see the full picture because there is so much on it that you would miss if you don't. Like characters on the corners making funny faces and stuff like that. The experience reading this was A+, I can't wait for more.

Was fine up until they fucked up Medusa's chapter. I can overlook a lot when mindlessly reading, but not her tale.

So, I really want to like this story.

First, I love a good Hades x Persephone retelling. More, I really like the art style in this one. The character designs are super cool, too.

For the first four chapters of this volume, this story had me.

Then, enter Medusa.

This series has one of the worst depictions of Medusa I’ve ever come across—second, of course, to the original myth. This series has just a tone-death take on the character that removes all nuance and, even, removes some of the original myth’s own—admitted—awfulness. It’s not just a misleading reimagining of Medusa and her story. I’d argue that this reinterpretation of the character perpetuates some of the worst aspects of rape culture.

It’s beyond disappointing.

That no one at any stage of the writing and editing process flagged this as a concern is incredibly disappointing and also pretty telling about the whole industry.

I saw the cover of this book and then I read the synopsis and knew I needed this one in my manga collection. Who doesn’t need some Greek mythology in manga form? I loved the art style and I loved the twist on the legend of Hades and Persephone. Characters who normally are swept to the side in their story are more prominent and Cerberus is hilarious.

I think this is a really cool Hades and Persephone retelling! It’s quirky and the art is really cute, but I feel like it’s moving too slow for me😕 We just now are getting back to what Kore originally came to the Underworld for even though she was caught in Hades’ rooms IN THE RAPTORS!!! Like you’re telling me we didn’t question her about that at all?🥸

A very entertaining story so far, actually kinda perfect to help with the gaping hole blood of zeus final season left me with...

The artstyle is gorgeous! The only thing I didn't really like was the Medusa chapter 🙄

Randomly picked up this series expecting it to be serious or dark, but the moment Hades was shot by Cupid’s arrow just on the first few pages, I knew this series is going to be a full chaotic ride—not that I’m complaining!

The artwork is so deliciously beautiful and Hades is such a lovely sight to behold (even being constantly grumpy as he is ❤️‍🔥). I am rather ignorant about Greek mythology and such, so I had not expected anything from the storyline since I barely knew the original ‘god’ names. Persephone is called Kore in this story, and I just learned that Kore is another name for Persephone.

The premise of the story is basically the entire underworld realm wanting Hades to find himself a wife, and after being shot by Cupid’s arrow, Hades had a harder time to stop his subjects from shoving it down his throat. Man just wants to stay single and be alone, and I pity him being forced to find a wife, but I like seeing men in misery so it was fun seeing him being grumpier.

So far I have no idea what to think of Kore, because so far, nothing much about her was revealed. She somehow sneaked in into the underworld, and ended up causing the Cupid’s arrow on Hades forehead to disappear, so something will happen between them soon—but really, what was her goal coming down there?

I liked most parts of the story but I was not quite fond of the portrayal of Medusa. It is known that Medusa is one of the most misunderstood women in the Greek mythologies. In the original myth, Medusa was raped by Poseidon and Athena cursed Medusa to be hideous with snake hair in order to prevent her from being raped again by being able to curse others to stone. But in this story, the author’s take was to make Medusa extremely enraptured by Poseidon and she became who she was because she was angered by Athena who caught her having a tryst with Poseidon. She simply became a pick-me girl, when truly, she was a victim.

I do admit that it was not the author’s responsibility to stick to the actual story because this was just another story inspired by the Greek myth, but I think it was a great shame that a misunderstood woman in the myths ended up getting a bad characterisation again.

Oh well, I will still continue reading this series for the sake of seeing Hades opening himself up more 🤍

This manga is absolutely ridiculous. Bugnuts interpretations of myth, but still more solid than most retellings I've read of late. I love that it just goes wild, turn the ridiculousness up to 11. Zeus with lightning bolt hair, Hera's as unhinged as her husband, Poseidon has shark teeth and a clever trick for making out with Medusa. EROS CLEARLY READ CALL ME BY YOUR NAME.

What did I even just read?

I love it.

The art and attention to detail in the imagery is absolutely stunning, I love seeing the little bits and pieces that hint at the mythology and iconography of the source material. There is a lot of silliness interspersed everywhere, and it was hilarious.

The inability of certain characters to self-reflect fit in making the contrast between Hades and their situations even sharper (also mostly in line with the general Greek myths, so the mythology nerd in me really liked that). Also, the side characters of the underworld are amazing: Kerberos is so much fun, and I loved the dorky twins Hypnos and Thanatos. Charon was also hilarious, poor guy.

Very curious to get to the next volume!

OMG, I laughed so hard I almost cried. Is it the best retelling of Hades & Persephone myth? Absolutely. Hades is so relatable. 1000/100 recommend! Easy and enjoyable read, I will definitely buy the second volume!

Well that was a little off...
Probably would have been 1 star but added an extra because i did enjoy the art. I had so many issues with the story (many moments felt problematic) and the maturity level was all over
the place. Not sure if i'll bother with future volumes.

So, I didn't hate it.

The art is gorgeous, and I loved how Hades is playing the straight man to the rest of the gods. That being said, it's just fine? Again, cannot stress enough how great the art is--gold stars all around for Eros's design. Love him, he should be on every single page. Also, the Anubis vibes from Hades's headpiece? I'm not mad at it. I liked how Hera gets some levity here; she comes off as a little ditzy, but I'm so used to her being ultra bitter (which is fair), that it's nice to see a more light-hearted version. Demeter as the world's first Helicopter Mom™ is fantastic, but other parts just don't add up. The whole Athena bit was... a choice. Also, how is Hera not aware of Zeus's divine illegitimate kids? I'd give her a pass for not being able to keep track of all the mortal bastards running around, but you didn't know that Athena AND Kore were Zeus's kids? And then there was the Poseidon bit with Medusa that started off fine--it was a little weird, but whatever--but then it just went south. And got weirder, but in a much worse way.

It's fine. I liked the designs, I liked Hades, Kore really doesn't have much of a role here, but I can see me liking her bubbly personality juxtaposed with the stoic, no-nonsense Hades (which, let's be honest, it's why we all love this pairing), and I enjoyed how over-the-top and flamboyant all the gods are. So far the series isn't taking itself too seriously, and I can appreciate that.

This is harmless fluff with pretty art. It's playing fast and loose with Greek mythology, but that's a lot of modern interpretations and I've seen far worse.

(But so help me, if Dionysus is in a later volume and he is not ABSOLUTELY STUNNING I will be deeply upset.)

Lovely art, but this silly-comedy adaptation doesn't bring anything new to the story, and its sanitized rewriting of the Medusa myth at one point (as a consensual affair, and complete infatuation on her part, instead of an assault) felt icky.
Hades comes home struck with Cupid's arrow, blindfolded to avoid falling in love with the next person he sees (having no interest in love), promising to grant any wish to the person who can pull the arrow out. Of course, as soon as he takes off the blindfold, young runaway goddess Kore stumbles into his view. The arrow vanishes (though he feels nothing new), she claims to have pulled it out, and claims her reward: she wants Hades to choose a consort (which made no sense, seeming to be only a convenient setup for the matchmaking premise that takes over the rest of the volume). Different goddesses start showing up as candidates, including Kore/Persephone's overprotective mother, Demeter (this part was at least funny).
Overall this was okay, and the art is nice, but for story I much prefer 'Punderworld' and 'Lore Olympus' as Hades/Persephone retellings.

Content concerns: no drugs or drunkenness (though wine is served), no swearing, no nudity or sex scenes but suggestive humour and talk of affairs and infidelity; the Greek Pantheon being what it is, there are various deeply unhealthy relationships on display ("You cheating ****!" "But baby you know I always come back to you!" "*swoon*!" [me: "Uuuugh..."] / "Baby, I won't leave my wife, but I'll love you as a mistress!" "*swoon*!" "Wow, his heart is so big!" [me: "UUUUUGH..."]) This is all treated as comedy but may feel abrasive to some readers.

3.5 ⭐. This is a weird read, especially if you know the mythology. This is a romantic comedy, so of course all the rapey gods are portrayed as play boys chasing after every pretty girl they come across, even joking about how they come home to the wives they love after they finish their trysts. It's a strange juxtaposition, but one that can be overlooked for the most part given the humor and modern language of the book. To the author's credit, what can be denounced within the context of a romantic comedy is addressed or it's blown ridiculously up comedically. It's mythology and this is fiction, so bearing that in mind...I actually enjoyed reading it once I reframed the awkwardness in my mind and got past the first weirdly worded chapter. Hades is apathetic and likeable, and Kerberos (I'm used to seeing it as Cerberus) is completely adorable. Hypnos and Thanatos are funny, too, and there's a panel that sneaks up where their hair is braided, but the joke isn't pointed out until pages later. I love that it's just there for the reader to notice. The art is mostly good, but janky in places. Of course the characters reek of the narcississm you'd expect of gods and goddesses, and hijinks abound. Eros, especially, is hilariously over the top. To me, the book got better and easier to enjoy as it continued. I will get vol 2 and then decide if I'll continue the series beyond that.

The art is fantastic but the story line is pretty awful. The comedy falls flat. I really wanted to love this because of the beautiful art, and I love Hades and Persephone retellings, but I just can't.
