For every different thing that Grover does, he wears a different hat. He is an astronaut, a fireman, and a baseball player all in one day! Whether it's a fire fighter's hat, a baseball cap, or an astronaut's helmet--Grover wants a hat like that!
This was a perfect addition to our "HATS" story time. First of all, children love seeing a familiar character. Second, it is very simple--sporting a full-page hat on every other page. There are four lines of descriptive text, but we needed to hurry as our half-hour was coming to a close so the performer just asked "Who wears THIS hat?" Third, it segued nicely to our coloring sheet which featured line drawings of these hats.
This was a book from my own childhood. Grover was the IT monster back in my days before Elmo took over, and this was just one of the many books centered on him that I remember reading. I loved sharing this book with my son. He can't get enough of it. He enjoys flipping the pages and just looking at the pictures. Because it's a softcover version, he can take it down off his bookshelf and carry it around. Happy new memories.
