This 12th volume is almost evenly focused on both couples: Kurosawa and Adachi are working through some issues about the balance in their lives. Adachi feels that he is not pulling his weight in the relationship and Kurosawa does not realize that he needs to allow Adachi to care for him as well. This episode is very sweet, because their care for each other misfires and they end up being estranged for a couple of weeks before they reunite and talk through their issues.

Tsuge and Minato are also learning to let the other in but in their case honesty does not work out quite so well. Tsuge confesses that he is a wizard and can read minds, but Minato thinks he is playing games. However, the preview for the next volume seems to indicate that he just needs a little time to process the information ...

As much as I love these characters, it feels like this story should've ended back around volume 10. For the last couple of volumes, it feels like the mangaka is pulling at straws to find conflict to keep this series running and what she's coming up with isn't particularly interesting. There's a heavy focus on workplace related issues so we the readers spend a lot of time learning about marketing techniques and the stationary industry. Adachi and Kurosawa are still cute as hell, but I really don't care about the stationary expo or the work that goes into preparing it. I kind of miss when Adachi's and Kurosawa's romance was the main plot driver. I guess I'm also not a huge fan of Tsuge and Minato. With Adachi and Kurosawa now happily married, Tsuge and Minato moved to the forefront and I guess I just don't feel the chemistry between them the way I do with Adachi and Kurosawa. Maybe I'll grow to like them eventually? Now that I'm caught up with the series, I don't mind continuing on just to see where this goes, but I guess my love for this has lessened lately and I don't think the series will ever get back to the high it had in the first 10 volumes.

I had so much fun but the past few volumes I've noticed I'm not as invested, so I think this is the last one I read. Even so, it was so fun and I really adore Adachi.

Same as the previous reviews: everything written here is on the assumption that you, the reader that has decided "this will be the one review deciding if I pick this up" amongst... literally any other one you could have chosen, either 1) have read the previous volumes, or 2) is alright with getting spoiled on them.

So yes... click away if you would rather not be spoiled. Or are having second thoughts about choosing a review that is... practically just a collection of random thoughts.

Oh my lord it is absolutely adorable how Rokkaku can not for the life of him get the hint XD And AWWWW I loove how Kurosawa's ahoge forms a heart bE STILL MY HEART!! (now feel the urge to go check through all the previous volumes to see if I missed this before or something) Wait I genuinely keep losing my mind each volume because how the heck can these characters get more and more adorable ;-; ...yes, this is me saying .

But overall, I love the parallels we get throughout this volume, and it is honestly amazing to see Adachi's and Kurosawa's growth, and all the cast again! (definitely missed some of them, since the past couple chapters before this weren't in the office) And oh my days I think I fell in love all over again for Kurosawa with that line: Also holy shit and yes, .

And NOOOO I feel so bad for Tsuge, it was illegal for this volume to end the way it had T-T AHHH I want to go read the next volume but can't just yet. I will when I can though, damn it.

At this point I could read about KuroAda doing their taxes and I would still give it 5 stars.

But the highlights of this volume were definitely assertive-bottom Adachi 🤠 and Tsuge trying to come clean to Minato 💔😢.

Another fun volume. I like that we got quite a bit of Tsuge and Minato. I hope that works out!
As for our primary couple, things are going along swimmingly. They’re super cute, as always.
There was one pretty explicit chapter which I kind of skimmed over as it feels intrusive to me, but as always, YMMV.

I love how these two support each other and how we see their imperfections. It's one of the things I've always loved about them and as the series progresses, they only get better and better at it--especially because they get to know more about each other.

And I liked the second couple in this because we will finally see them facing the truth! I'm excited to see where their story takes them, especially because of that cliffhanger. I think it's definitely going to take a bit of work to get that couple to their happy ending.

Basically, this whole volume was great for the communication between the couples and because we got to see the dynamics of each couple. I

don't know how many more volumes there will be, but I wonder how Toyota will bring everything together by the end!

Happy reading!

THE ANGST??? HELLO WHERE DID THE FLUFF GO???? MINATO AND TSUGE PLEASE BE OKAY AGAIN TT

(minor spoilers ahead!!)

review for the series for far because i am nowhere near sane about this

i think i felt a lot of what Adachi is feeling in the beginning. like media and everybody else tells you that by 21 you should be living your best life and dating and doing the deed and stuff and here i am. in a (not so deadend, i hope) job and eternally single and a dumpster fire. man perhaps if i kept this up for another 9 years i'd be a mind reading wizard too. anyway that's besides the point. i liked that Adachi was an ordinary guy. any other guy, and Kurosawa saw him as something special. not because he can read minds and unintentionally pandered to his every need, but because of who he is as a person. i thought that was important to note.

and on the opposite side we have the perfect Kurosawa everyone looks up to and is probably more than a little in love with. Adachi is the only one who gets to see his little pathetic side. and i love how normal he can seem but on the inside is all the crazy fantasies and songs of Adachi one can and cannot even imagine. and the fact that somehow along the way Adachi becomes endeared to that? in absolute pain but the best way.

i love how the tone goes from totally comedic with Adachi going 👁👁 about Adachi's thoughts to actually both of them actually learning to get over their own small and big insecurities and helping each other better themselves. it's actually soft and fluffy and wholesome (though not all the time), and i love how they're going through all the steps of dating and oh my god THE MARRIAGE. THE MEETING THE PARENTS. THE WEDDING. i was this close to bawling my eyes out on public transport okay. and then also trying to help out Tsuge and Minato?

okay THEY are a whole other story. a younger dancer and an older romance writer who is now also a wizard at 30. i never expected so much in their story. i love how they actually inspire each other to chase after their dreams and it was all because Minato was his delivery guy who likes his cat (green flag!!). and there's actually so much about their insecurities in the relationship and seeing them FINALLY open up to each other is so worth the slow burn. but oh god the cliffhanger on the end this volume!!

this is the opposite of Kurosawa's reaction to learning that Adachi can read minds and i love how this manga actually explores that. Kurosawa accepts Adachi's powers BECAUSE he fell for who he was before that. he even uses that to tease Adachi. but Minato takes it the exact opposite way and runs. oh god, and his college crush is coming back. I'M SCARED. BUT EXCITED. next volume please TT

Kurosawa has been selected for the project leader for this year’s stationary festival because the person who usually runs it is on maternity leave. This is a big job and means a lot of work. Adachi wants him to lean on him during this time, but Kurosawa tries to be a hero and do everything himself. At one point Adachi lays down the law saying they can’t even be intimate until the festival is over because Kurosawa’s health comes first. (I’m not sure that I totally understand this reasoning, but different strokes and all). Of course right before the festival all sorts of thing start to go wrong, the weather even prevents their keynote speaker from being able to attend. But in the end, everyone pulls together to help Kurosawa, and it goes off fantastically. Tsuge even gets to be the speaker since they were in a pinch.

After it’s all over when Adachi and Kurosawa are finally intimate again, we see Adachi take the lead since Kurosawa has been working so hard. It’s a very sweet (and hot) moment.
We also get to see more of Tsuge and Minato. They are still taking things slow, much to Minato’s dismay. They go on a date to a place Tsuge wants to go, and at the end Minato gets pretty forward, though it still seems too much for Tsuge.

Later we find out it’s because he feels guilty about being able to read Minato’s mind, and Minato has no idea. Things are finally starting to progress, but Tsuge puts on the breaks because he feels like he needs to be honest with Minato first, but when he tells him the truth, Minato thinks he’s making it up because he doesn’t really want him (which is obviously not the truth) Minato leaves and Tsuge is left standing immobilized and full of regret.

Rating this four stars because (1) Kurosawa and Adachi were cute, (2) we get a spicy scene that was great, and (3) Tsuge and Minato were adorable too.

So, most of this book focuses on Kurosawa not being able to rely on others. Adachi tries to help and it’s really sweet, especially at the end when we see a spicy romance scene that we usually don’t get with Adachi taking the initiative.

Also, Tsuge and Minato don’t appear to be very popular with some readers, but I really like them and their story. In this volume, Tsuge actually tells Minato the truth about his mind reading abilities, but Minato doesn’t believe him and leaves. It’s an awful cliffhanger!! It really shows the stark differences between both couples in this series. Kurosawa believed Adachi, but Tsuge was not so lucky. I think part of the issue is Minato‘s age and lack of maturity. I just hope that it gets resolved in the next volume.

Cherry Magic is the 12th volume in the work place Japanese Romance. I think this is a great series, but this wasn't my favorite volume. It might be my least favorite. We had a few sugar moments, a few cute moments between them, but little. This is all about work. They have a huge convention event at work and everyone is busy and stressed. Who wants to read about that.

Adachi is trying to take care of Kurosawa, but he tries to shoulder it all on his own. That's pretty much it.

We catch up in one chapter with the author and his mate and that very cute and sugar. That's really the only thing going. Life is stressful enough, and I don't care to read about work stress unless it someone makes it cathartic.

Anyway, there will be a volume 13. I wonder what the goal is here. What's left to tell. Maybe, they will adopt, who knows. I don't want to just read about their work life in the future. Still, I'll be there for vol. 13.
