The parallels between Jesus parables and the sayings of the Rabbis are not as far apart as many Christians seen to perceive. When you look at the parables of Jesus in the light of other Jewish parables there are some striking similarities. Though they are not all precisely the same , the themes of the generosity and justice of the King (often God, in His dominion over the earth, the need to forgive when forgiven, and the need to be generous with what you do have are all Jewish themes, used by Rabbi Hillel and others.
