Tweet: JUST FINISHED READING THIS CAPTIVATING BOOK ON TWITTER, ALL ABOUT HOW IT CAME TO BE. EVERYBODY READ AND RETWEET THIS NOW. MUCH THANKS TO THE GREAT IDEA AND HARD WORK OF @Jack @Ev @Biz @Noah
Comments: Twitter: The Company and Its Founders, written by Christine Heppermann, is a work of nonfiction. Like all books in the non-fiction genre, this book tells the true story of how the popular social media company, Twitter, came to be. All non-fiction texts are factual and inform readers about a person or a topic. Non-fiction texts include, autobiographies, biographies, essays, informational texts, textbooks, reference books, and newspapers.
All social media platforms are not created within a few days and available for immediate subscription and use. There is a long process that the founders of a site have to go through in order to make a social media site function and be successful. Twitter is not just any social site that is used to waste people's free time. it is an online social network that enables users to post and send short messages, or as us Twitter enthusiasts like to call them “ tweets.” There are four founders of Twitter who gradually connected themselves to become the “stars” of this site. These founders came together to create a site different than any other. Their goal for this site is to give an opportunity to users who would be able to send or receive messages in less than 140 characters. This form of messaging allows users to broadcast a message on their page where anyone who follows them has the ability to see it. From the beginning, all four founders, Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass were immediately interested in programming and designing. These men grew up knowing that technology would be apart of their lives forever. All four of them began in the early stage where they worked for different programming companies and design effects for different websites. They found each other after working for many programming and design companies that were all in common. They decided to put their ideas together and see their thoughts as one. Through hard work and determination, there dream is now an incredibly popular social media site accessed by millions of users.
I selected this book because I was interested in the topic and wanted to learn all about the creation of Twitter. The book is organized with chapters. Within each chapter, there are pictures with captions, headings, sidebars with information, and quotes. The book also contains an index and table of contents. I think that the book is organized and laid out in a way that helps readers access and understand the information effectively. This makes it easier for the reader to gather information on the topic. I think that the author did a good job of keeping readers interested in the book, yet sometimes it got a little boring for me because there wasn't much action going on. The author is an ideal non fiction writer who has clearly done her research and is very knowledgeable on this topic. Christine Heppermann only delivers the facts throughout the entire book. By reading this book, readers will be able to understand the format of how Twitter is used. They will also gain facts Twitter from inception to current day. I truly liked reading this non fiction book because it was something different that I wasn't used to reading. I would recommend this book to readers who are interested in technology, social media, and who want a better understand of our ever advancing world. Lastly, I would rate this book an 8 out of 10 because I thought it had great detail and fascinating pictures.
