Jerry Hopkins was an American journalist and author best known for writing the first biographies of Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison of The Doors, as well as serving for 20 years as a correspondent and contributing editor of Rolling Stone magazine.
I bought this when it came out in 1983 and finally read it. I could have saved myself the time and looked for a better book. I can tell why it went out of print. A half-hearted attempt to cash in on the refreshed mystique of the 60's icons that were fashionable in my youth. I wouldn't have known much better then, but I must have detected its flat uninspired prose even then. Well at least it went quick. I'm gonna look for another Hendrix bio though - I feel like I've been prick-teased. Maybe if he expanded it with the info he left out, this book would be worth it.
