This was one of those delightfully playful stories. It moves very quickly but like the characters in the story, it is a bit of a tease until the "good stuff" happens. I love the interplay between the main characters and how they dance around their lusts for each other, but also how they pull back at all the right times.
The interruptions were the best part of the story. The intermix of rescue story (the horses were nice, the best friend was better) with the romance just added to the slow build up before the climax of the story.
The ending was telegraphed slightly, it is a romance, but I was happy to be surprised on how it ended. The novella ends on a HEA ending, which is perfectly fine.
And the puppy? He was adorable. Both in how the main characters included him in the thoughts, but also how Ms. Germain used him as a focal point for introducing the story, showing Darrin's (main male character) personality, and generally making him a keystone for the story.
Loved it.
