I have a long history with this particular edition of The Adventures and the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. When I was a little girl, my favorite places were the library and the bookstore. I very rarely was able to purchase books, but when I could I was always delighted. I remember being very little, and wandering a 'Barnes and Noble.' I loved to read, and devoured any and every book I could. I loved to read big books, and was proud of my ability to do so.
I loved mysteries, and had heard much of Sherlock Holmes. My father tried to dissuade me from picking such a huge book, but I was enraptured and so it was soon mine.
Rereading Sherlock Holmes is like returning to the home of a beloved friend and finding that although you have changed, your friend is just as you remember them. Sitting in the parlor with Holmes and Watson is a comforting place to be. Endlessly enjoyable, Sherlock Holmes mysteries are considered classics for a reason.
