James H. Robinson's father "never gave up on God", and Jim Robinson, who grew up in a black ghetto, never gave up on God either. His faith, vision, and hard work helped found Operation Crossroads Africa, forerunner of the Peace Corps. Written in 1968 during a period of social upheaval in the United States, some of the language is frank and may seem outdated, but it is an earnest homage to an American leader whose work and legacy should not be forgotten.
