David Martyn Lloyd-Jones was a Welsh Protestant minister, preacher and medical doctor who was influential in the Reformed wing of the British evangelical movement in the 20th century. For almost 30 years, he was the minister of Westminster Chapel in London. Lloyd-Jones was strongly opposed to Liberal Christianity, which had become a part of many Christian denominations; he regarded it as aberrant. He disagreed with the broad church approach and encouraged evangelical Christians (particularly Anglicans) to leave their existing denominations. He believed that true Christian fellowship was possible only amongst those who shared common convictions regarding the nature of the faith.

David Martyn Lloyd-Jones was married to Bethan Lloyd-Jones

Finally finished both volumes after all these years. Well-known sermons of Doctor Lloyd-Jones, and deeply convicting. These are not comforting to read, unless we recall our union with Christ. But even then then it searches our hearts.
It's interesting to consider the timing when he preached these sermons, 1950-51 I seem to think. There was a marked change, if you compare these sermons with his preaching, for example, on Romans chps 6-7 on the relationship of the believer to the law. He said that he would not preach on Romans until he felt he finally understood Romans ch 6.
Incredible power - logic on fire - in all his preaching. It had a profound influence upon my parents generation, and consequently on me. And that influence is still felt throughout the Christian world.

This is the best book I've read in 26 years of being a Christian. My only regret is that it took this long.
This is the clearest thinking about the deepest aspects of Christian living. This book reveals what a person's heart longs for, they will find the answers here and the working out of these things starts with being dead to self. Pray intently for the death of the natural self, so that the Christian man/woman can achieve the goal of the true believer which is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Reflection for a lifetime.
