In this adaptation of the old lullaby "Hush little baby," an extraterrestrial child is promised an assortment of outer space presents ending with a goodnight kiss from his adoring father
Daniel Kirk’s always charming illustrations hit the mark yet again in this re-mix of “Hush, Little Baby.” Papa Alien accompanies his little one as they go on an intergalactic adventure, and if sometimes things don’t go just right, Papa knows just what to do (even when the antics of the little one – careful with that laser beam! – cause some mayhem). “And when that rocket ship takes flight, Papa’s gonna give you a kiss good night!” This one is as fun to look at as it is to sing at bedtime. Additionally, the aliens are gentle and sweet enough for even the youngest of children to look at before lights-out.
Fun idea, but I found the illustrations to be unappealing. I was especially creeped out by the dad giving his baby a living, screaming astronaut as a toy.
Ever thought about what alien moms and dads might sing to their little outer space babies to get them ready for bed at night? Wonder no more; Hush, Little Alien is the perfect lullaby for those little moon-men and those who wish they were little moon-men.

I discovered this for my kids a few years back. I am so in love with this book that not only do I buy it for every little boy we know, but I even wrote the author to let him know how beloved his book was to our family. He replied with a very kind email, and I can't say a week goes by where we do not sing or read this book. It is a must have for any family.
Great book, great rhythm, great beat. Awesome rhyming. It is a great book to read to children when they are about to take a nap, or go to bed at night. The colors, and illustrations are great. Easy to read and comprehend.
An activity I would do with this book is that each day before takiing their nap, I will have a different child everyday read the book to their classmates.
This is my youngest child's current favorite and we read it several million times a day. I started a bad precedent by singing it the first time -- learn from my mistake! Don't let your kids know it's a song or you'll have to sing it forever.
Super cute and sweet for the under-five rocketship loving set.
I love Daniel Kirk and Hush Little Baby is a great song so you think I'd give this one five stars but.... I don't know, I just don't love it. I think maybe the illustrations of the aliens just doesn't do it for me - so maybe it's just a personal bias.
Another hand-me-down from the cousins and a great hit. A lovely adaptation of "Hush, Little Baby," set in outer space. Danny picked this at bedtime for a week running. He said he'd read it at school.
I loved this retake on the classic "Hush, Little Baby Song." Young readers will love it too. A fun read and sing along book for all. It would be fun to sing it, then have the students echo what was just said.
This is one of my favorite storytime books of all time. Anytime I start reading this I get major quiet and kids locked onto me and the book. Love it. Wish it were still in print. Ages 2+
In this take off an alien father promises his little alien a variety of things, from an astronaut to a satellite. This was well received by older & younger children at the PJ storytime.
