Falling in love wasn't easy. Staying together may be impossible. With her divorce proceeding, Brenna Lanigan is upset by her sons' cold shoulders and opposition to her intimate relationship with Cassidy Hyland. Cassidy's son Ryan eagerly accepts their relationship, which makes Thomas and James' lack of support even more upsetting. When the women return from holiday hiatus to Time Trails, they sneak precious moments of intimacy in shadows and trailers. With many of the cast and crew showing support, Cassidy and Brenna try to date in hopes of being seen simply as friends. The paparazzi give chase, however, very interested in the attitude change from cold shoulder to coziness between them. When their romance is suspected, the "lesbian" label sets off Mitch Hyland, Cassidy's ex-husband, who plans to remove his son from being raised by a lesbian - By force if necessary.
Lara Zielinsky is a bisexual married woman and works from home as a writer and fiction editor. She grew up reading, as it was the one thing as an introvert she could do alone in a house full of people. When she realized these stories weren't reflecting the things she thought about, she started writing her own. She discovered romance books in her teens, particularly looking for stories with strong female leads. When she opened up about her orientation, her stories started reflecting her bisexual experience. She got started writing with fanfic in the Xenaverse and then drifted into other fandoms, notably Star Trek: Voyager and Once Upon a Time, always gravitating toward non-canon sapphic 'ships. Eventually she started writing original fiction. Her first novel "Turning Point" was published in 2007. Her most recent title, published through Supposed Crimes, is Turning In: More Stories of Brenna and Cassidy (2023).
A continuation from Turning Point. If you haven’t read Turning Point, you’d should read it first before moving on to Turn for Home. Story is a little heavy on drama with some teary scene. Story mainly revolved around an incident which brings out the best and in some instances the ugliness in a person. You will get to feel the struggles that Brenna felt when faced in a situation where you might just lose the person that you adored...
Simply adored the book and just had to finish it within 1 sitting. Too bad I can’t find a 3rd book, a continuation of Brenna and Cassidy’s journey..... Would have loved to read what comes next for the lovebirds.
This book is more like the conclusion of rather than the sequel to Turning Point. The characterization of Mitch, Cass' ex-husband is a bit over-the-top and caricaturish, but other than that, I like everything else about it--angsty, lots of melodrama and a satisfactory but realistic ending.
Sorry, but I can't help comparing this series to one of lesfic's most popular ever--'And Playing the Role of Herself...'. They are both about TV actresses falling in love. But this is a richer, more mature and complex tale, and much better-plotted. Compared to these 2 books by Ms. Zelinsky, that one reads a lot like fanfiction.
And speaking of fanfiction, a few times throughout the book, I could have sworn Brenn and Cass looked just like Janeway and Seven. I wonder if this series was a fanfic in a previous life? :)
If you haven’t read the first book, please do. I loved the first and was really grateful that there was the second. Loved the characters and how they found each other in their trying circumstances. I’m reading this in 2019 and this was published in 2013. Dear Lara, would you grant us a 3rd? Would really hope to see them going on actual dates, progress in their careers and tying the knot finally.
The story started almost right after the end of Turning Point, and for those who didn't read Turning Point, I'll highly recommend you to start with that book first. You'll feel a lot more for Brenna and Cassidy and the journey they've been through together.
When I first read the synopsis of the book, I didn't expect all hell break lose with Cassidy's crazy ex-husband leaving Cass mostly in recovery in this book. The issue of medical power of attorney and the battle Brenna fought through with Cassidy's parents felt so real. I love Brenna a a lot in this book. She's the mature, steady anchor for Cassidy during her most painful and vulnerable moments. You just can't help but root for Brenna and Cassidy. Their love carries so many different dimensions - friends, confident, lovers who completes each other and I'm extremely glad that they are finally together.
Lovely supporting cast in this book as well, it's just heart warming and great to see the Time Trail casts being so protective as well as supportive to Brenna and Cassidy. I'll highly recommend reading Turning Point and Turn for Home together, I've truly enjoyed my reading marathon weekend.
I loved continuing the read about Cassidy and Brenna! They are great characters that I could honestly read more about. I personally would have to liked to read more about the couple working through adjusting to their relationship as a lot of the book was more so focusing on the ex husband drama.
