Red Zone Prime is a functional game plan for personal protection which does away with fantasy techniques and fear based marketing in favor of a realistic approach that could just save your life. This is not about "sport vs. street". This book illustrates how both approaches are not only complimentary but necessary.
Overall I dug this book immensely! It mirrors a lot of the training I have done over the years, and amplified a couple of things I didn't know, or had barely processed. My only negative about the book, is that it is in SERIOUS need of a copy-editor. Many grammatical/spelling errors that on several occasions threatened to take me out of the book.
For people serious about learning self protection - especially in a healthy, fear busting (rather then fear based) program - this book is a winner!
This is one of the better self defence books to be written in recent years. It's clear and concise, has no silliness and extends on the work of earlier writers, like Geoff Thompson and Peter Constadine.
I especially love the approach Jerry takes - of only including techniques and approaches that have been proven to work under stress. No 'Well, in real life this would blah blah blah', just solid, testable, repeatable results.
There are also some excellent chapters at the end on mindset and legal issues. The former is especially refreshing since it talks about the darkness that can come with focusing on violence all the time, and offers some comments on the futility of male fantasy fulfilment common in a lot of training.
