A great reference to have, especially for the student of Irish history. Lots of terms from Irish literature, politics and history I hadn't come across before, all very well explained and just the right amount of detail given. Very wry, highly entertaining — the author has a great way with words. A wonderful book to dip in and out of, although I read it through and was quite satisfied by the experience. The introductory chapters give one a great angle on Hiberno-English, the demise of Irish and the Alan Partridge-isation of the new toponymy in Ireland. There is nothing I would find fault with!
