By the author of The Tao of Watercolor , this book, the second in her “Path of Painting” series, offers creative artists of all levels empowering guidance based on Zen principles.
Oh my, what a wonderful book this is! I am really digging what this author says and conveys in her books. In this particular book she delves more into the spirituality and psychology of art making. Read it!
An inspirational book rather than a book of painting techniques. Carbonetti endeavors to help the aspiring artist find the muse within. Printed on thick, high quality paper the book is a delight to look through. Many of the paintings were really inspiring.
Jeanne Carbonetti's paintings are just stunning, but the text is a little bit "woo-woo". Sometimes that's what artists need, I suppose. :)
The art in the book definitely makes up for the text, tho. I'm spending more time looking at the paintings, they are just fantastic. The artwork is definitely worth the price of the book!
I'd have given this more stars if it'd been based just on the artwork, its beautiful. As an instruction manual or art resource, though, I'd say maybe only two stars? I found only one real step-by-step page of instructions, and that's really what I'm looking for in an art book; usability in the studio. So, OK as a coffee table book.
