She Sold Sea Shells . . .

Rate this book
Shell Lee McGivern would prefer to be called Shelly. A police officer at a small town in North Carolina, she is content with the life she leads. But her rather laid-back life is soon to undergo a dramatic change. A private investigator comes looking for her with the news that her mother, who had abandoned her at birth, is now on her deathbed and asking for her. Though psychologically scarred by the rejection, Shelly undertakes the journey and finds herself the beneficiary of an enormous inheritance. That, however, is the least of her troubles as she struggles to come to terms with her estranged mother and discovers her own roots, realizing the value of forgiveness. Also thrown into this touching story is an element of mystery involving cattle-rustling, embezzlement and murder, forcing our heroine to put to use her faculties as an ex-law-enforcement officer. Will she overcome the odds or will she throw in the towel? Will she inherit the Rayburn fortune or will her enemies get the better of her? Will she stay on at the ranch bequeathed to her by her mother or will she go back to her job as a police officer in North Carolina as she had intended when setting out on her journey?
