After the Break-Up: A Girl's Guide

Rate this book
What do you do when The One turns out not to be The One after all? When your dream home is snatched away from you, unfinished Schreiber kitchen units and all, and your dog is sent to live with your parents? When you suddenly have to find a flatmate, a way to pay the rent, a reason to keep going and maybe, ultimately... a new boyfriend? Sharp, funny and hugely entertaining, Carrie Sutton charts her life in the year following the Big Break-Up. The bad dates... the good friends... the times when you think you can't go on... and the moment you realise you are finally OK on your own. If you've experienced a Big Break-Up and need some cheering up, a bit of friendly advice and a few practical tips - then this is the book for you! Reading this book is like talking to your best friend over a large glass of wine. Uplifting, truthful and wise; as a feel-good remedy, it does everything except order you a cab home at the end of the evening! This title is published by Big Finish Productions, Ltd. and is distributed worldwide by Untreed Reads.

I couldn`t relate, Somehow I thought it was fictional, not what I expected. That being said...
I`ve been with the same man since 1981. I do believe relationships take work, and people are quick to give up on marriage in this disposable world. Of course there are a few deal breakers that would have sent me running for the hills... Abuse being one of them. I`d never put up with that.
I was blessed with my mate, we are very compatible, and I am very happy to have been with him for so long. (Hoping for many more years together)
The book did hold my interest, and I hope the author has found her person, she seems really sweet. She deserves happiness. I cant imagine finding a mate in the world we live in today, so different now.

Some of this book was helpful, but much of it really didn't resonate with me. Sutton claims that part of moving on involves helping yourself to feel better, but the majority of her tips were way too feminine and materialistic for my taste. I would rather browse for more books and intellectual projects instead of get a manicure and new haircut. Taking care of myself physically is great - and so long as my body is still well, I wish Sutton had spent a bit more time on the mind. I just don't buy it that it will help me to be splurging on things that society has conditioned me to believe will make me more valued.

Very sex and the city. Put heart and humour into something really difficult. Took the weight off my shoulders
