With Maggie’s guidance Alan comically builds his dating experience until he’s convinced he can get along without her coaching. But soon he’s washed up on the romantic shores, dumped by the woman of his dreams. Once again, there’s only one person who can give Alan the advice he needs... but he has to be willing to listen.

I liked the characters in this book very much; they had depth adn honesty that one wouldnt expect. They didnt always tell the truth to everyone they knew, but they were very frank with themselves and their close friends. I thought that this honesty really added to the book and made the writing very enjoyable. I also really liked how the book ended, though I wont give any spoilers. I just want to say that I hope that I can end my novel as well as Paul Kropp ended this one.

As far as teen books are concerned this book was real and funny and had a good foundation of characters. It just wasn't my type of book. It was very predictable and I just didn't enjoy it enough to read the second installment.
I'm inclined to say, however, that 15 years ago I would have enjoyed the book very much.

I picked this up hoping for a funny teenage romance. What I got instead was a predictable, bland, forgettable novel.

After continuously striking out with the opposite sex in his school, Alan Macklin hires Maggie McPherson to help him get the insight into a woman’s mind. A very clever love story.

Its was a bit annoying. Well I did not like Alan, he was a bit annoying & pushing. I couldn't finish it. Sorry.
