In her first volume of poetry, Lix Hewett explores the theme of independence through her own experiences and the many stories that surround her. Weaving family clashes, failures and fictional images together, her poems represent the emotional swings of youth and walk us through the precarious bridges that stand between handling your life as it is, and figuring out what's next.
So happy to have finally read this. I've known Lix for a long time and she does do magic with words. Her poetry is poignant, compelling and somewhat enigmatic, with a taste of Dickinson, Plath and a bit of Christina Rossetti. Will write longer about it in Spanish. Thanks, Lix <3. (and such a pretty cover.) Please read it, all of you!
