Relationship Play Therapy

Rate this book
Renowned child therapist Clark Moustakas demonstrates how play can be used to affirm and liberate childrenÑchildren who suddenly become troubled in their school or family lives and can work out their anger and fear in just a few sessions, as well as children who are seriously disturbed and must struggle to achieve emotional maturity, respect for others, and faith in themselves.

"While play itself frequently offers emotional release to children it is not automatically accompanied by insight. The presence of an adult whose aim is to help children clarify their feelings and be themselves is an important requisite and hastens the process of resolving emotional tensions & conflicts. "

I love good dialogue, and that's what this book is: long kid-centered dialogues, with a nifty fifties coloring, like when one boy exclaims, "By George, I am angry, damn it!"

Moustakas models a great way of playing with kids and helping them to express themselves and their feelings. I only hope I remember it when my little guy is walking and talking.
