Clever Fox: A Dani Fox Novel by Jeanine Pirro is a Hyperion publication. This book was released in July 2013.

It is New Years Eve 1979. Dani and her reporter boyfriend, Will, are celebrating in Times Square when they are both paged. A woman was brutally murdered and mutilated.
Dani, one of the first women to become an ADA, is assigned the case along with an Irish cop named O'Brien.
When the victim is identified as the daughter of a mob boss, the FBI tries to stick their noses into the investigation. They are all convinced that a rival mob boss killed the girl, but Dani is having doubts despite the mounting evidence.
As the probe deepens, Dani and Will begin to have problems in their personal relationship. Their jobs are a major conflict between them. To make matters worse, a very charismatic FBI agent has started to horn in, not only with the investigation, but with Dani.
Politics also rears its ugly head because Dani's boss likes to yuck it up in front of the TV cameras.
As two rival mob families dance around a mob war, Dani finds that she only has one other person she can trust besides herself. She is pressured to file charges against a man she is not convinced is guilty, she gets caught in the crossfire of the mob, and deals with her crumbling personal life and the very persistent FBI.
A very smart plot. The mob, the attitudes toward women in the work place, the politics in the DA's office, the courtroom drama, Dani's personal life, and police work all melded together to take us on a rip roaring ride through the dark murky waters of the justice system, the unapologetic journalist's attitude, the mob, gross abuse of power, and the courage and bravery of one person that brought it all to an end.
I read several books at a time, but when I got started on this one, I just kept right on reading it until I finished it. I couldn't put it down. The author knows just how to bait you at the end of each chapter. I read a lot and I can be a little jaded, so if you can sucker me into staying up way past my bedtime, then you deserve a five star rating.
Part crime drama, part legal thriller, part mystery and all the way authentic. I never questioned the likelihood of the plot. It was like I was reading about an actual case. I loved it. I recommend this to all lovers of mystery/thrillers. A+

Judge Pirro has proven herself to be a great novelist. Her character development was excellent and she kept the suspense going to the very end. This book is a combination of murder mystery and legal thriller...a great read.

A good read, ADA Dani Fox, although in charge of prosecution of domestic violence is assigned to handle the case of a mob boss’s daughter being murdered and mutilated. The FBI agent in NYC tries to take over the case for political reasons. He and Fox have a history as he has attempted to have an abuser put in witness protection. Fox has a second case against the abuser which denies this. Although her boyfriend is a newspaper reporter, more interested in headlines than justice, she pursues the case which not a mob vendetta, but a serial killer. She identified the killer, but the FBI destroyed evidence as the killer is one of their own.

Interesting book with new ideas for murder
This second novel/series of Dani Fox, ADA FOR Westchester county was better than Judge Pirro's first. Although little courtroom drama, not as much as #1, the plot was extremely entertaining with little continuity errors. The best part was I didn't figure out who done it until way towards the end. Hoping for #3.

Great reading...perfect Sunday occupation! Jeanine Pirrio write like she speaks. This book grabbed me in the first page. I truly enjoyed reading this...the background, the logics, how a prosecutor works, the politics, behind the scenes from the public....all based on experiences Jeanine had! Thank you for their novel!❤️😃👏💕

Spoiler alert.I didn't like it.Annoying relationships except the detective,crappy ending,more detective book than courtroom drama.I may read some of her non-fiction.Disappointing,because I liked her first novel.

This is the second book of a series and I'm so sad she has not written a third. It reads like a Law and Order SVU that only takes a day or two to finish because it's too hard to put the book down. A book for the true lover of police/court crime mysteries.

In some ways, I believe that I enjoyed this one even more than the first. Engaging plot, strong characters, and good writing. What more could I ask for? I love Jeanine Pirro and her poodles!

This book is fairly simple to read but with a complex enough plot to keep up the reader's interest. Anyone who enjoys courtroom drama might enjoy reading this slightly edgy novel.

I enjoyed the first one and had to read the second. Her writing style is one that I like. I am sure it has to do with her being a lawyer for so many years and keeping the facts in order.

Once I started it, I couldn't put this book down. Too many twists, turns and tragic murders to count. It moves quickly, but you still don't know until the last couple of chapter when the author finally let's us in on who the REAL murderer is.
What made this book different than other murder mysteries is that it was written by a woman who actually has walked in the shoes of prosecutors and judges to solve murders, so her descriptions, observations, thought processes, and uncanny intuition during the murders comes from her own real life experiences.
This book was a 'fun read' for me because of its setting: I've spent lots of time with work and friends in Westchester Country, New York, during the past 14 years.

I ended up enoying this more than I anticipated.
What started out as a "I've left the book I'm reading at home" lunchtime read became quite an enjoyable police (prosecutor) procedural and lunchtime standard.
I'm not a big fan of procedurals but after the first few pages the story started moving along nicely and I ended up wanting to know how it would pan out.
The villain was totally expected, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Overall, quite enjoyable.

Prosecutor Dani Fox is investigating a brutal murder of a Mafia capo's daughter. Although the prosecutor's office wants to think the crime is Mafia related, Dani thinks differently. Suddenly there are more bodies and more "turns" in the case putting Dani and her boyfriend in danger.

Judge Pirro has written yet another fine book. ADA Dani Fox is trying to solve a mystery of a serial killer who killed a mob boss's daughter. Keep on writing these fine books your honor.

Liked this book. Good plot lines and a couple of twists. Kept me guessing. Like the main character, Dani Fox and her sidekick O'Brien. Writing was pretty good and moved along at a good pace. Well done.

Very good 2nd book in a series. I figured out who the killer was, but not before they were ready to reveal it anyway. She left it open for a 3rd book, and I'm hoping that there is going to be one!
