Steve Backshall shares what it means to him to film the world's most deadly species. These are the record breakers, the most extreme: the largest, the fastest, the fiercest, the most venomous.
Some TV tie-ins can be a bit tacky and not very educational, but this BBC book certainly isn’t. Most children will be more than aware of the Deadly 60 TV series and so this book is at an advantage when it comes to gaining interest in it. The book is written in kind of a diary format broken down into countries, so can also be used when doing projects on specific countries for example, making it a multi-dimensional topic book. Most children love finding out about animals that are dangerous and scary and this book is packed with first-hand accounts with these animals and also a good amount of interesting colour photographs. I would perhaps use it with KS2 children due to the amount of text and maybe even some of the animals involved.
