I got this from the library and just read one chapter on Appreciative Inquiry, because I'd heard about it as a method for finding joy in your life and wanted to know more about it. The book is really written for people wanting to make change in organizations, but I could see how Appreciative Inquiry could work in one's personal life as well. I plan to learn more about it.

A comprehensive look at organizational intervention for effecting change. In some ways, too comprehensive. Reading it cover to cover starts to blur the effectiveness of the individual interventions. The best way to approach this book is to have a problem to solve, apply the rubric, and focus on the 2 or 3 best available models, locking on the one that will align best with organizational culture.

If you are in business for yourself, life or executive coach, consultant or an I/O Psychology Learner (Capella calls students); then this is the reference book for you.

There are many important methods to know how to incorporate into a plan of strategies. This is really strong for organizational work, and other businesses.

I studied the plan for systems, organization, and positive psychology plan for a case study. What did I learn ? A lot of methods and correctly to mix them and it all started with:

Part II The Methods (adaptable Methods)
I used Appreciative (AI) Inquiry p 73
What is Appreciative Inquiry?
AI has been described in a myuriad of ways: as a raicaly affirmative approach to change that completely relieves a problem-based management and in doing this vitally transforms strategic planning, survey methods, culture change, merger integration methods...measurement systems, as a paradigm of conscious evolution geard for the realities of the new century. p74

You can in a plan used mixed methods this is usually what happens when working with clients or your own business for success and higher net profits.

In my case study I used this for structuring methods:

43. Participative Design Workshop
What is the Participative Design Workshop?
The PDW is one of several open systems methods that help organizations or communities get on top of their unpredictable environment. p419-420 The reason I chose this is because this design has a set of measurable goals, for training staff on various management styles for new design and communication and in how they will cooperate with other groups in the case study I did.

With this case study using The Improving Methods:

47. The Six Sigma
What is the Six Sigma?

It is a process-focused method of eliminating defects in manufacturing processes. p467 In my case study it was about products for the oil industry and the safety and development of a new product.

All in all it is a great book because it gives you an idea how long it takes to do each method when applying this to a plan of action for a cient. It is more useful as a reference than something you read as a novel.

The Change Handbook – participatieve innovatie
The Change Handbook

A great, comprehensive overview! This should be on every consultant's desk. Only thing missing in this edition is Theory U but otherwise: GREAT. Everything you always wanted to know about tools and techniques, but also the why of whole systems change, engaging stakeholders and co-creating sustainable change. A revolution of positivity and inclusiveness - grass roots - energizing your organization while you change. :-)

I will come back to this practical and comprehensive resource for whole systems change. Delightfully, subtly spiritual in its approach to holistic engagement of whole systems change methods.
