This is a great book! I remember back when I was pregnant with my first child, and like most first-time moms, I immediately went out and purchased a copy of "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Well, I hated that book. It did not serve me on many levels, and because of the lifestyle I wanted to lead, I felt "left out" and had to largely figure things out for myself. I would have LOVED to have a book like this that served as a guide with the kind of nutritional, holistic, and lifestyle information that I wanted and needed at the time!

I would definitely recommend this to any and all pregnant or soon-to-be pregnant mamas out there. I know the cover is cute and you might think this is just a book on maternity fashion, but its not! There is some hard-core, awesome information in here that covers everything from pre-conception to postpartum. Every aspect of the growing mama is discussed, from what to eat to how to exercise to what to expect to how to spiritually and emotionally deal with what is happening and how to address other relationships in your life. This book is the whole package.

From now on when friends ask for pregnancy book recommendations, I will heartily recommend this book along with Sayward Rebhal's "Vegan Pregnancy Survival Guide," "Birthing from Within," "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding," and anything by Ina May Gaskin.

Wow! I am absolutely thrilled with this book. After reading up on women's health, I also wanted to find out more about pregnancy and birth. (I am not yet a mother.) I found most books on this topic very scary. Birth and pregnancy were always associated with a negative connotation. In this book, however, everything is presented with great ease. Unfortunately, I know from my own experience that pregnancy and birth are not always so pleasant. (So if you are looking for detailed information about miscarriages, illnesses or traumatic experiences, this book is not for you.) The author describes a path that is very positive and where everything works wonderfully. But that is exactly what I needed at the moment. For me, it is one of the best books I have ever read. (Health/Self-help) I am incredibly grateful to the author and will definitely try to implement her tips and integrate them into my everyday life.

Admittedly, could not finish this one and was happy I got it from the library. Maybe because I'm a second time mom, but at first I liked her writing style and as I read through the first few chapters I felt like I hated her attitude. I had a really difficult pregnancy with my daughter and I didn't feel like I could just be positive and think well through my gestational hypertension diagnosis or the UTIs I had or the potential placental failure of my daughter. I wanted to like this book, and I felt like the recipes were good, I just got this holier-than-thou attitude that really turned me off as a mom that had medical issues.

Don't judge a book by its cover. When I first saw this, I nearly passed it over. Something about the cartoon pregnant lady in a cocktail dress and heels had me assuming it'd be written in that fashion magazine tone and possibly full of fat shaming pressure to avoid gaining weight. Boy was I wrong!

It was forthright, useful, and most of all empowering. It has become my favorite first- time - mom read by far -and I've read dozens now. It ditches that fluffy tone so many other books and web pages annoy me with and gives the practical low down without condescension.

Love it. Easy to use: including an index and appendix. Resourceful. Empowering. Just wonderful!

While I enjoyed the writing style and the open and honest dialogue, it was a bit too much "you gotta love yourself, embrace your inner goddess" for my tastes. If you like yoga classes with incense and chanting and self-affirmations, then this is the book for you. If you prefer yoga that sticks to namaste and the poses, you might be rolling your eyes through a lot of the book.

This is a pretty generic pregnancy book. It has some nice recipes for healthy food. But in terms of useful information it wasn't very useful for me. I liked the yoga poses though. This might work better for someone who actually lives in the USA as the health system here in Canada is different. For me this book was more about Latham's pregnancy journey than anything else.

Overall it was an okay book. However I feel as though the breastfeeding section was not great at all.

This book was a lot more fun to read than the What to Expect books. A lot more relevant and useful to my life as well.
