About the author

Yoram Yovell is a graduate of the MD-PhD program of the Hebrew University Medical School and the Department of Neurobiology, Weizmann Institute of Science. He was a visiting doctoral student at the laboratory of Prof. Eric Kandel, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, at Columbia University. He completed his residency training in psychiatry at Columbia University and his psychoanalytic training at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

He is co-director of the Institute for the Study of Affective Neuroscience (ISAN) at the University of Haifa, and training and supervising psychoanalyst at the Israel Psychoanalytic Institute, Jerusalem, where he is on the teaching faculty. He is a founding member of the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society and served as editor of its journal, Neuropsychoanalysis. His current areas of research include the pharmacological treatment of suicidality and the neurobiology of memory disturbances following psychological trauma.
Prof. Yovell published two bestselling books about the interface between psychotherapy and the neurosciences, and is the host of an award-winning interview program on Israeli TV where politicians, writers and performing artists talk about the relationship between their biographies and their work. He lives outside Jerusalem and practices psychoanalysis and psychiatry.

Yovell is an invited speaker to numerous academic and commercial conferences, and lectures in English or Hebrew about topics such as positive psychology and the pursuit of happiness, the neurobiology and psychology of love, and the biology of emotions.

פשוט ספר נהדר. מומלץ לכל מי שמתעניין בפסיכולוגיה ובאהבה. יש הסברים ממש טובים ומעניינים , שמתבססים על מחקרים עדכניים , לאהבה , קנאה , מיניות. איך אנחנו מתאהבים? למה אנחנו מתאהבים? מה התפקיד של הביולוגיה וגנטיקה בכל הסיפור הזה? אין תשובות לכל השאלות , זה ברור , אך יש לא מעט חומר מחקרי שהצטבר. כל זה מודגם על מקרים טיפוליים שגקם הם , כמובן , מעניינים מאוד.
