This was an interesting collection, a collection of work by a young, furious poet, organized chronologically. You can find quite a few similarities to Gil Scott-Heron's music and other forms of spoken-word poetry (and rap). Lee is not, as I understand it, employing dramatic irony in any of the material -- the poems represent his actual beliefs, many of them righteous. Some of his ideas, doubtless popular in their time, have aged poorly. As such it's not something I would recommend at face value, perhaps not his most celebrated work, but as a historical document (1971!) it's really fascinating.
