Wisconsin natives, Ana Leigh and her husband, Don, have three children and five grandchildren. From the time of the publication of her novel, LOVE'S LONG JOURNEY, by Leisure Books in 1981, Ana successfully juggled her time between her chosen career and her hobby of writing, until she officially retired in September of '94 to devote more time to her "hobby." In the past she has been a theater cashier (who married the boss,) the head of an accounting department, a corporate officer, and the only female on the Board of Directors of an engineering firm.

Read: 8/28/22 3.5 stars This was a very entertaining Bodice-ripper! The story starts off with an arranged marriage between a lowlander and a highlander since they were children. When they are forced to honor the agreement and meet for the first time sparks fly, good and bad.
Robert is your typical good looking alpha warrior. Elizabeth is beautiful with a quick temper. She could be a bit of a shrew at times but it's a Bodice-ripper so I can't be too surprised! Their biggest problem is that Robert continues to fight for his friend, Montrose, against the Covenaters. Elizabeth wants her husband home, which I understand especially after one traumatic event happen. 😭 I'm still upset
To be honest, the English Civil War was the best part. Most books that cover this war never mention the fighting in Scotland and Ireland. So I enjoyed learning the details of the battles. I'll admit I had to Google many parts, which I loved! I was quite impressed with James Montrose. He was like a clever Ned Stark. He did make the same mistake most Scottish warriors make, "A Scot is worth 3xs the enemy," expect if your enemy has calvary or cannons!
Conclusion: the romance portion was pretty good. I enjoyed the MC together but the history stole the show. It's the history nerd in me! I highly recommend this book! I just wish I could have find the book on e-format 😥
Sidenote: I wanna thank @Lauren Berman for the recommendation and my dear friend @Anne for sending me a copy. It was much appreciated!
My favorite romance novel of ALL TIME!!! It has yet to be beat and I've read A LOT of romance novels in my time! Robert and Elizabeth are FLAWLESS. Their love story is so passionate it makes you yearn to jump into the pages and be with them to experience it side by side!
Both steamy HOT and heartbreakingly BEAUTIFUL. Simply perfection. I recommend it to EVERYONE!!!!!
Elizabeth Scott, a lovely, spirited young maiden from the Scottish Lowlands, is outraged to learn that she must leave the comforts of Ballantine, her ancestral home, and journey to the remote and barbaric Highlands in order to honor a marriage contract with Robert Kirkland. The arrogant and handsome Laird of Ashkirk, her intended husband, is not only a notorious womanizer, but is also a supporter of the hated Montrose in Scotland's Civil War. In Robert's wilderness fiefdom, antagonism flares between the bridal pair, and Elizabeth resolves to flee both her husband and the Highlands at the earliest possible opportunity. But the heat of conflict ignites flames of passion, melting old grievances and fusing together their proud, rebellious hearts, until the man Elizabeth has vowed to despise becomes the man she cannot live without.
3.75 rounded up. This was good, but I had recently been reading some 5 star authors for me. I think a lot of people would really enjoy this one. Arranged marriage, sparks, and some good history (that almost takes away from the romance.
