Cherise wanted a quiet, normal life...something she has never had. After a traumatic loss, she decided she needed serenity, so she moved halfway across the world to the American states, to a beautiful, quaint village in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. And there, with fresh air, tall trees, and lovely neighbors, she opened a little patisserie, and settled into a wonderful, normal life. Her family had already told her she couldn't run from her destiny. Turns out, they were right. The last thing she ever wanted was to see a vampire again. But suddenly, a very damaged one shows up, stripped of his memory, unable to keep human blood down, and in need of help that only someone with her skills could provide. Damn't! She should have known that something would ruin her perfect quiet life of solitude, gardening, and baking her incredible French pastries. No matter how desperately she wanted to send him away, he needed her. The family legacy couldn't be denied...she was born to use her empathic skills to help supernaturals bridge the two worlds. Okay, she would help him and send him on his way quickly so that she could get back to her gentle life. Of course, it figured that this vampire was more than an average vampire...he was one of the first bloods, ancient vampires... powerful, rare, arrogant. Cherise had never been attracted to the large, oversexed vampires. So why did her heart race and breath quicken when he came to her for help? Stick with the plan, she told herself, get him well and out of the village. Only it wasn't going to be that simple when she discovers he's been the target of horrible torture and abuse. It will take all of her skills to help this man become whole and well again. And maybe more of her than she's ever had to give before. Maybe she would discover that even an empath doesn't know what's in her own heart.
My name is Charlie, everyone has a story, and this is mine...
That's how the book Last Best Hope, by author T.C.Butts, introduces Charlie Quinn, happy at last living in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, finally at home in her cabin surrounded by nature's beauty. From her isolated life, she makes her living writing a highly successful vampire romance series, where she proclaims, "So I didn't create timeless canons of literature...I created moments of escapist enjoyment, and in the lives we often trap ourselves, it was as important as any Shakespeare sonnet or Tennyson poem." When fireballs rain down on Denver one early spring night, the world is changed forever.
Author T.C.Butts has brought Charlie Quinn's vampire romance series to life, which has grown deeper and richer with each new volume. It has been a labor of love!

The heroine:Cherise - she was introduced in Forbidden Days, she is not quite human. She comes from a race of people with special abilities, she is like a seer, she has a gift of empathy and also is able to distinguish between other supernatural races; just by looking at a person, she is able to tell what kind of being they are. She left her village because she was tired of being caught up in the chaos and death of the supernatural world and wanted a “normal” human life. Though she found herself with a group of vampires. When they were targeted by other vampires determined to kill everyone associated with them, she decided to leave again. This time she ended up in a small village in Colorado, opening a café that specializes in french pastries.
The Hero:Kavin (a.k.a. David Patric) - he is a vampire with amnesia, and that isn’t the only thing wrong with him. He has been staying in a mansion outside a little village in the Rocky Mountains. The locals think the place is haunted. He can’t remember who he is, how long he has been alive or what happened to him to make him so confused. He knows he is a vampire, but can’t keep human blood down. He made friends with an elf that lives nearby and Kavin has been feeding on his blood for a while, but the elf can’t keep it up, as he has been too tired and run down to support his family.
The story: Cherise’s gifts had been plaguing her lately, giving her a foreboding of something coming. She had been having nightmares and had been unable to sleep, so when the elf showed up at her café asking for her to help the vampire in the mansion outside of town, she knew that was the reason for her unrest. She didn’t want to be anywhere near a vampire, but she knew her conscience would bother her until she offered to help.
It turned out that there were sinister forces behind Kav’s amnesia and there was a good reason that he was afraid even though he hadn’t known why at the time. I don’t want to say much more about this part of the plot, only that it does get pretty suspenseful. I was surprised when Cherise first told Kav that he was a first (bloodline of the first vampires). Since his past confinement seemed odd to me since the firsts in Forbidden Days were able to do things like freeze a bunch of people at once with just their minds. So it seems odd that Kavin could have been captured. It did explain that he had been “disconnected” from his exceptional abilities and hadn’t been able to access them, but there had to have been a time when that was not true.
The plot of this book was really really good, but one thing I hate in books like this is that there always seems to be one point where the heroine feels she has to do something dangerous, and everyone, including the Hero tells her not to do it, but she thinks she knows better than everyone else and just thinks she can be so helpful. Then she ends up in hot water all because of her own naivety and stupidity. Of course, the reader can see it coming a mile a way, but she does it anyway and makes things worse for everybody.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I have fallen in love with the supernatural world. Learning about the different powers that vampires and empaths may have within a book is intriguing. It all keeps me on edge and turns a book into a page turner. I loved the two main characters, Kav and Cherise. I liked the whole bond idea. That kind of emotional connection and being tied together forever is so romantic! Love it! I like when characters have disturbing pasts that they are working to unfold, as well. The amount of time they were separated lasted so long, though! I like lots of physical contact and in-depth steamy scenes in books I read. There needed to be more of that!
Spoiler:
I didn't really understand what Tamezines's motivating drive was. We didn't find out much about her past. I thought her physical attraction to Cherise was a bit creepy, as well. I enjoyed reading about what happened to Didier and Armel, but I would've liked to have known what would happen to Tamezine. Her story ended on a cliffhanger.

Story "Cherise meets her Vampire "
What made the experience of listening to Endless Days the most enjoyable? I like to have someone read to me. I get to enjoy the story more. It also brings the story to life.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Endless Days? When Cherise figures out she is in love with a VAMPIRE lol
What does Pyper Down bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? She managed to capture each character fairly well. And she read the story with a clear voice.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? I enjoyed this book. It allowed more of Cherish whom we met in Book one C.L. Quinn
I rarely give five stars, but 4.5 is pretty close. It was a second installment that had me falling deeper in love with this series and eager to read what came next. Was totally captivated by "Kav" and now he has become part of my fictional relationship club. Cherise was also the sort of female character you truly liked and was absolutely pulling for. I really enjoyed this book.
It was an okay read. Except for some of the phrases used like 'vampire speed(ed)'. Unsure if it was meant as a joke or what but at points it gave some real WTF moments. Heroine is conceited and it was hard to cheer for her. Really liked the male lead. Overall the book was a 2.5.
My first book by this author. Honestly I probably won't read more of this series. The wrong was fine, just too flowery for my tastes. Maybe a little more spice in the bedroom as well. There are certainly a wealth of characters and plot lines for this series to continue for a very long time.
This story was incredible, outstanding, exciting and just plain fantastic 😄😊!. I love 💘me a great vamp story and this is definitely a great one!!!. C.L.is an awesome writer with a fantastic imagination 😊.
couldn't stand the heroin she was a very selfish empath. It just didn't fit. First book was much better. I won't be reading more in this series. Very disappointing.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this story. It has a lot of crazy people but also amazing vampires. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Another exciting chapter in the FIRSTS series! 1st let me say, I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. This is absolutely a must LISTEN to book in audio format. The whole series is! All the adventure, excitement, accents , proper pronunciations and sex! There is no way I could have pronounced all the names right, let alone create the accents as I read the book. This book picks right up where book 1 left off at. We start with Cherise. Remember in book 1 Cherise was leaving the vampire life? Cherise starts out owning her own bakery / restaurant. Someone ones & brings to her attention there is a vampire very ill in an abandoned house that needs her help to heal. Cherise takes off for this house to find David, a very ill, very out of his mind vampire. David is one of the FIRSTS. How did he get there? What is his story? All these answers come as we read thru the story. I was so happy to see this book about Cherise as she was my favorite character in the first book of this series. I like Park from book one, but I liked Cherise even more. In this book we get tons of action & excitement. So many twists & turns in the plot, you won't be bored for sure! I loved how the story & all the characters are interwoven into each other. I enjoyed towards the end when some old characters came back into play. I enjoyed seeing Cohen, Bas & Park again. It was just like old times. I really enjoy seeing characters I know again. This author, C L Quinn really knows how to write! Absolutely an amazing imagination to not just write 1 of these vampire books, but a whole series! I am totally floored how the story goes back & forth and everything is related to each other. Everything written about has a time & meaning for it! The narrator Pyper Down did a fantastic job delivering this book. With all her accents, it seemed so real!!! Kudos to both of these ladies!!! I look forward to book 3. I can't wait to see what will happen next!
Wow is this an intense story. David & Cherrise get to have their love story told. We still get to have some of the original vampires from the first book appear in this the 2nd in this series. But we get to hear a horrendous backstory of what David, a first blood vampire, has been through.
The cringeworthy tale, that will make you ill at times is quite an emotional journey. We get light at the end of a horrible tunnel with quite a nice HEA, but we go on a ride of action & adventure & endure more bad guys & the nuttiest of looney tune vampires we could have ever met.
The humour threaded throughout these stories is refreshing. The passion, heat & depth of the love that is found is wonderful. Brilliant concept, very original story unlike any other vampire story, but still has some of them traditional vampire histories.
Looking forward to the 3rd in this series, bring on more of these special & extremely beautiful vampires.
Absolutely amazing read and even though I have read this book repeatedly I have enjoyed it every time. The characters are superbly characterized that you are totally engaged in their story which will bring your emotions and attention to every page making it hard to put the book down until you have read to the end. Then you will want to see who is next to have their own story in the supporting characters that are wonderfully introduced in this series. I'm highly recommending that you get the whole series as I have for I know you will absolutely love it too,it's well worth every penny and moment of your time.
I'm normally really long winded when I review,I often have a difficult time articulating just how I either Love or Loathe a book and feel the need to mention all the different things I love or Hated..... Often taking down rabbit holes it's hard to get out of... Here not soo much this wasn't always and easy read Kav/David the lead male /Vamp. Went to Heel and back here on earth but thankfully he found a great love in Cherise... Cherise got my last nerves at times but I loved there story even this my 2nd reading of it and amazingly still needing to read the 1st book... But will and I plan to read many, many more...
The author gave me the first book in this series, after I enjoyed her Charlie Quinn story..Last Best Hope...and now I am moving on to book3...this is a creative world, and the vampires are nothing like you will ever come across...they are very unique...This is Cherise's story after the big fight in book 1 and Cherise is a very interesting lady...I found it quite enjoyable and I highly recommend!
I really enjoy the first half of this book. It was a nice change to have a vampire being vulnerable. but still sexy!! The second half was sadly very predictable and not so excited. That really too bad. And a very bad point was the French expressions. They were so many in this book a very few were correct. Being French, I was quite annoyed by this at the end.
just loved it! I tend to skip though words or paragraphs in most romance books, not this series! I soak up every sentence. Thank you Charlie, for an enjoyable escape from that real world!
I think these books would be better absorbed in audio format because the accents and pronunciations are a gift to those if us who don't speak French, or want a better understanding of how things sound. The narrator in book one was annoying, but Pyper always does an outstanding job.
This is the second book in the "Firsts" series. This is high suspense and a love story. Loss has followed the main protagonist as she seeks peace away from the Firsts. She doesn't find it. What she finds is danger and love together. This is an emotionally draining book and I enjoyed it completely.
Interesting story. The characters are attaching and you get involved pretty easily. The story has it's own lore which makes it even more interesting !!
Loved this! It was a great follow up to the first book and I love that the author didnʻt pick an "obvious" choice for the main character of the second book. Nice!
