Deceit. Treachery. A life-altering secret comes to life. And a mind struggles against bonds promised by the heart long ago.... Nineteen-year-old Christian de Chagny knows where he gets some of his physical characteristics--from his mother, Christine Daae de Chagny. But where does his musical genius come from, when his father, Count Raoul de Chagny, can barely hum a tune? From the moment Christian questions his mother and she nearly faints to the novel's heartrending conclusion, Progeny is a breathless winding trek through the lives of Christian, Christine, Raoul, and the masked Master of Music--the man at the center of all of their lives--Erik, the Phantom of the Opera.

What to say about this book... "Yikes"? The plot seemed interesting, but dragged on needlessly for 400 pages. I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the drama, and about halfway through, I realized it was because this book paints Christine as the first Bella of the supernatural realm. The poor girl has no mind of her own and no personality, yet Raoul and Erik are both madly in love with her. The only difference between Christine and Bella is that Christine has at least one redeemable talent: her voice. Also, if I read one more in-depth description about red rings around Erik or Raoul's eyes whenever they grew angry, or how Christine's eyes were a "sad pool of brownness", I was going to hurl myself out a window. The editing was awful, as well, making it difficult to read.

Two stars because the plot had promise and there were some touching scenes, but overall... the phandom deserves better.

Phantasy is such a moving, romantic book, that beings years later where Phantom of the Opera left off. It is 20 years later and we see what has becom of Christine, Raoul and of course our favorite literary figure of all time, Eric. Plus another character that becomes as important as all the rest.

Eric is written in a much kinder light which is very believable and the reader sees how much Christine has matured and her true feelings for Eric. Raoul is written a little on the villianesc side that could make fans of his become upset, but it also works.

Meadows take different points of view from the characters much like the first book and it works to her advantage.

Order this book and treat yourself to the fantasy and the phantom. It is like returning to old friends!

It started out intresting, but most Phantom phans will see what's coming. Once the mystery is gone out of the plot, it becomes perdicatble and stall. I felt the book was just too long overall. Not the worst phan fiction out there , but you could proably fine alot better stuff online (for free) that dosen't have the same predictable-"OMG Christine and Erik had a love child"-tragic plot.

I remember reading the first chapter or two for free online and loving it and dying to get my hands on the book.

...And then I did. The first free chapter is really the only part that's any good. Oof.

Based on the stars I gave this book, by a quick glance you can tell that I didn’t like it. It is by far the worst continuation of The Phantom of the Opera that I have read so far. There seems to have been no editor for this book. There are technical and grammatical errors everywhere! I could overlook that if the plot was not so pathetically weak. Christine has a son, Christian, and is married to Raoul. But, is the child his? Predictably you find out very early on that it is not, it’s Erik. But, if that is the case, why has she been married to Raoul for 17 years instead of Erik? Great question! The answer- actually- answers are plentiful and lame. Christine is still the same wishy-washy woman we came to love AND hate in the PoTO. She goes quite insane at the end… again. And she turns her son, Christian quite mad as well. But, don’t despair! The ending is FAR worse! So, if you enjoy hitting your head against a brick wall and desire another SAD ending after the already SAD ending of the PoTO by all means read this book. If you are not, then skip this one (and her “sequel” Phantasy and try one that doesn’t drag on (for no reason )for 400 pages.

One of the best, most heart-wrenching Phantom stories I have read

This story, a continuation of the Original PotO novel, provided what I think most wanted to see but with a sad twist...or should I say twistS...in the end. It evoked so many emotions from me that I felt physically ill at some points as Christine, Erik and Raoul struggled with their love, lust, passions and frustrations. Christine showed strength occasionally through the story, but she always seemed to rely on one of the men for her strength. But it is set in the late 1800s to early 1900s, so I guess the stereotype fits the epoch. Anyway, kudos to the author, Becky Meadows. I will be reading your other work(s) as well.

I thought it was a great sequel to the Phantom; better than other books or fan fics.

I loved how Becky Meadows portrayed Raoul and it was interesting how each main character had a chance at first person and gave their point of view.

This book had a better story than the Broadway sequel: "Love Never Dies".

I am trying to remember this book after four years sinse I last read it but I hope my review is helpful.

If you are looking for another great Phantom of the Opera book; check out "Phantom" by Susan Kay. Best POTO story created.

Personally I absolutely loved this book! If you are a Phantom and Christine fan like I am then this book is definitely the one for you. The storyline kept me captivated I could not put it down. You really get to see the wonderful moments between Erik and Christine that you've always hoped to see. This book is the only book that makes me cry every time I read it. It's sooooo good I highly recommend this book!
