In DANGEROUS IMPULSES, the ninth novel in the Rocky Bluff P.D. series, an attractive new-hire captivates Officer Gordon Butler, Officer Felix Zachary's wife is befuddled by her new baby, and Ryan and Barbara Strickland receive unsettling news. RBPD Officers investigate the bloody murder of a mother and her son, and try to locate the source of an unidentified drug that sickens teenaged partiers, but nobody is talking. Early Reader F. M. Meredith has done it again, produced another immensely satisfying episode in her Rocky Bluff Police Department murder mystery series. Think Ed McBain's 87th precinct series mellowed out in a California beach town. Dangerous Impulses, ninth in the series, finds Gordon Butler orienting a new officer, the drop-dead beautiful Lizette Gibbs, and fans of the series immediately know the loveable but somewhat hapless Butler is going to fall hard. But before he can even think about making a move, they find the bodies of a woman and her teenage son... Before the RBPD can sort out the double homicide, a number of teenagers are sickened by a "recreational" drug. No one will say what the drug is or who brought it to the party. With its terse prose, ingenious plot, heart-warming moments, suspense and satisfying wrap-up, Dangerous Impulses will keep Meredith's fans happy and win her many new ones. --J. Michael Orenduff, author of the award-winning Pot Thief murder mysteries "Good read that had me playing detective along with the characters...well fleshed out with little details that really do occur in a cop's world. I could almost smell the chow mein, the eucalyptus and the blood." --Linda Rooney-Card ..".had me holding my breath and reading late into the night. Meredith's characters suck you in as they move closer to each other and a very satisfying conclusion. --Michelle J.G. The latest installment in F. M. Meredith's Rocky Bluff P.D. series is more proof of why the author has carved out a lengthy and prosperous writing career. In Dangerous Impulses, Meredith brings back favorite characters and introduces new ones, always blending the elements of the characters' personal lives and their jobs. Dangerous Impulses is a quick, enjoyable read. Lovers of police novels and murder mysteries will like this one.
"Dangerous Impulses" by F.M. Meredith is the ninth book in her Rocky Bluff PD mystery series and it's another great one. I've read all of the books and I'm looking forward to the next one. I've come to know the small, fictitious town of Rocky Bluff and to care about the people who live there. Detectives Frank Marshall and Doug Milligan are trying to solve the brutal murder of a high school student and his mother. Their investigation leads them to believe that the crimes were committed by either the woman's ex-husband, her married lover or his wife. Meanwhile, Officers Stacey Milligan and new hire, Lizette Gibbs, are interviewing teenagers in an attempt to discover who brought the unknown drug, which sent most of them to the hospital and ultimately killed one girl, to the party they attended, The solution to the two crimes both surprised and satisfied me as a reader. I highly recommend "Dangerous Impulses."
Dangerous Impulses is the next novel in F.M. Meredith's Rocky Bluff P.D. mystery series. I've enjoyed reading this and several other novels in the series, although each can be read as a stand alone. This story not only deals with the lives of the police officers, and the solution to two gruesome murders, it also delves into an issue that is relevant to every parent these days; the consequences of teens using legal designer drugs purchased from the Internet. Meredith's clear and knowledgeable writing is solid with complex characters and a satisfying ending. I highly recommend this novel, as well as the others in the series.
In this story there are enough twists and tight lips to keep me turning pages. The newest officer in the police department has second thoughts about accepting the job. Her instincts serve her well. I enjoyed this book.
This was my first Rocky Bluff P.D. novel. I was delighted with the small-town fervor to solve local crimes, puzzled over by a bevy of new and veteran members of a police force. As a former teacher and principal of high schoolers, I thought Meredith's depiction of closed-mouth teenagers, rendered speechless by fear, was spot on. I look forward to reading more of Meredith’s stories in the Rocky Bluff series!
As usual, this was another compelling book that kept me hoping for some extra time to get back to it. Marilyn's characters are like old friends to me now and I enjoy whatever they happen to be up to. Just finished it today and thoroughly enjoyed it. You will, too.
